The series begins in the late December of 1995 with the introduction of viewers to the Thomas family, an affluent wealthy family going on a gateway vacation to the Caribbean. As the family reaches their destination of a serene resort and unpacks their belongings. The viewers get to meet Alison, the elder daughter of the Thomas family and a college freshman with an outgoing personality, and Claire, the younger sister who is reserved and shy.
The family is offered affordable activities to do by Edwin, the resort employee who keeps suggesting the family go to Faraway Ca, a mysterious island that possesses a private waterfall. Edwin is revealed to be a womanizer, and his companion Gogo is a reserved individual with a kid and a girlfriend. Alison attracts the attention of every guy on the island for her dapper looks, and they try to build an impression on her through a game of volleyball.
The viewers are also introduced to Olivia, another teenage girl, jealous of Alison and the attention she is getting from the guys. Tyler and Allison meet at night in private, and as the series moves forward, the viewers get to know that Tyler also has an interest in Allison. Edwin flirts with Allison, and a flashback reveals Allison is missing. Meanwhile, Allison’s parents are informed by the detectives that the night she went missing, she sneaked out of the hotel room.
Allison was last seen drinking with Clive and Edwin. Thus, the detectives arrest the duo after she goes missing. Now, the viewers meet Emily, a writer living with her partner Josh. Clive picks Emily up one day, and the series again goes in a flashback where it is revealed Clive was given the name Gogo as he stuttered as a child. Emily is overcome with emotions after meeting Clive as she remembers him as Allison’s friend, and it is then revealed that Emily is Clair, the reserved sister of Allison.
Edwin and Gogo are caught by Indigo Bay’s island detectives for driving under the influence. Bill, Allison’s dad, believes that Edwin and Clive are responsible for the disappearance of Allison, as she was last seen with them. The series moves forward, and after several events and Emily becoming suspicious of Clive being responsible for her sister’s death, the truth behind Allison’s death finally comes out.
Who Killed Allison?
The series ends in the 8th episode where it is revealed the night Allison snuck out of the room she shared with Claire. She spent it with Edwin and Clive at a neighborhood club. Edwin justifies his reasons for not letting Clive date Sara, as he knows she doesn’t loves him. Edwin and the group drive to a scheduled place to spend more time together as Allison and her family are set to return to their home the next day. Allison, along with Edwin and Clive, has a nice time as the three shares a drink and smokes marijuana.
Allison begins to seduce Edwin and Clive by dancing seductively in the picturesque view as she wants to have a threesome with the duo. As Edwin and Clive kiss, Allison blacks out, and when she wakes up, the duo has gone all the way as Edwin feels something in him unlocked after kissing Clive. Edwin yells at Allison to leave them alone once she gains consciousness, and she follows the instruction by sprinting toward her hotel.
Soon the truth behind Emily being Claire is revealed to Clive as he notices her habit of writing on her arms, as she used to do as a kid. Now that the truth is out about Claire’s identity, Clive calls her by her real name, and she begs him to know the truth behind her sister’s death. The revelation is made that Tyler slept with Allison the night she met with Edwin and Clive, and with this information, Claire confronts him to reveal the truth, and Tyler admits to having sex with Allison.
Tyler is forced by Allison to choke her during sex, and after he refuses to adhere to her request, Allison leaves and has a mental breakdown after she realizes she is not special to anyone. After Clair confronts Tyler, he reveals that Tyler lied to the authorities to avoid becoming the suspect in Allison’s murder.
