It gets said that a person gets supported by the family during the ups and downs. Not everyone will agree with it because some get abused by their families. Coming to Chicken Little, we know his father did not support him through his every up and down.
The controversy is about Disney’s tweet that showed an image of Chicken Little happily held by his father. Meanwhile, the caption meant that the family always supports you during your hard times.
You will quickly understand that the statement does not go with the two characters shown in the image if you have watched the movie,’ Chicken Little.’ The 81 minutes long movie got released in November 2005 in the US. It got written and directed by Mark Dindal, and Mark Kennedy joined him in the case of writing.
The American computer-animated comedy sci-fi is based on the European folk tale, ‘Henny Penny.’ It collected $314.4 million at the box office with a budget of $150 million. Chicken Little focuses on the little character detested by the town for causing panic. Later, he comes across an unexpected revelation while trying to improve his reputation.

Chicken Little’s Relationship With His Father
Chicken Little creates panic in his school, thinking that the sky is falling. His father, Buck Cluck, thinks that Chicken Little’s head got hit by an acorn falling off the tree, making him feel that the sky is falling. It is how Chicken Little ended up becoming a joke.
Besides improving his reputation in the school, Chicken Little also wants to make his dad feel proud. He did not bother to prove his point to his dad in the case of the falling sky. Buck’s wife is dead, and he must raise his son alone. Moreover, the residents of the town are nuts. They mock anyone, especially a ten-year-old kid like Chicken Little, and the cops take no action.
Similarly, living somewhere else with the kid forever is not an option because the town has made a movie mocking Chicken Little. So, they will get harassed wherever they go. Buck loves his son and has not yet abandoned him. But he also knows that his son is a laughingstock and gets easily bullied by anyone.
Buck cannot fight the entire town, though some fathers may do it or express love for their kid. He is just tired of his son’s stupidity. Chicken Little expressed his disappointment of not getting supported by his dad, and Buck agreed instead of arguing.
Meanwhile, some people may consider Buck as the bad father because he did defend his son even if someone mocked him right in Buck’s face. Instead, he would end up blaming the kid. Moreover, Buck got proud for a few moments when Chicken Little won the baseball match and returned to disappointment towards his after some time. Chicken Little would get bullied again without any support from his dad.
Chicken Little Controversy
Within two weeks of the Father’s Day celebration in Australia, Disney shared an image showing love between Chicken Little and his father. The statement above the picture represented the same. However, the positive feelings shown in the image do not match the movie’s plot.
People understood that the person who shared the image did not go through the movie and slammed Disney for not watching its movies before sharing the tweet (or image). Buck babied his son and named him ‘Chicken Little’ but did not feel proud of him in the coming years.
Many people cherished the movie because Chicken Little rose above his father’s continuous disappointment and bullying from the entire town. It is why people liked the movie. It encouraged other kids that got isolated by their parents to face the struggles and live a happy life. However, we can see that Chicken Little did not get supported by his family, as mentioned in the tweet.
An unhappy fan replied to Disney’s tweet saying that they had only one job, but they picked Disney’s worst father. Instead, according to the fan, Disney could choose Grandma Tala, Maurice, Mufasa, or other happy families. Another fan tweeted that the caption in the tweet was fine, but Disney should have shown Chicken Little’s chosen family who really supported him.
The movie is better for older children than younger ones. Parents can encourage their children to live happily and be truthful though it may seem unrealistic, build a trustworthy relationship with family, and what to do if such a relationship does not get built.
