Julia Roberts and George Clooney’s film, Ticket To Paradise, is a one-of-a-kind romantic comedy that proves that it’s never too late to go after what you truly love. Directed by Ol Parker, the movie was released in the US on October 21st, 2022.
The storyline of this movie centers around David and Georgia Cotton, a divorced couple that tries to prevent their daughter, Lily, from committing the same mistake they became a part of years ago.
Lily goes on a trip to Bali with her friends, and that’s where she meets Gede, a Balinese man. Her parents have lived separately for 20 years, but when they find out that she’s randomly marrying a Balinese man, they decide to cancel the wedding.
Ticket To Paradise is filled with great acting from Julia Roberts and George Clooney. Despite being in their 50s and 60s, these actors manage to carry out their roles with perfection, and their chemistry throughout the film is unmatched.
However, Ticket To Paradise isn’t their first film together, as both Julia and George have been a part of films like Ocean’s Eleven, Money Monster, and Deadline Hollywood. Both Roberts and Clooney were nominated for the People’s Choice Awards for their amazing acting in the film.
Ticket To Paradise: Filming Locations
Despite claiming to be the vibrant blue and lush greenery in Bali, these locations we see on Ticket To Paradise were filmed in Australia. It’s only the exterior hotel scenes that were genuinely filmed in Bali, Indonesia. The reason behind this change of locations for Ticket To Paradise is the prevalence of Covid-19 at the time.
Haslewood Island, Whitsundays, Australia:
Right at the beginning scenes of the movie, both Georgia and David arrive on a boat on the island where Lily’s wedding is about to happen. This island is Haslewood Island, located in Australia. The island has pristine blue waters surrounded by warm-toned sand, which makes it a very scenic location that could convince anyone to think it’s Bali.
Whitsunday Island is also the place where Gede’s farm is situated in Ticket To Paradise. More specifically, this farm is located at Palm Bay Resort, Long Island.
Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia:
This is where the main scene of Ticket To Paradise is filmed. Lily and Gede are ready to marry each other, and as soon as Georgia and David arrive at the island, they start preparations for the wedding. Until the day they tie the knot arrives, the parents spend some time on the island and get to know the Balinese family of Gede.
The wedding happens on Hamilton Island, and the parents finally realize that Gede truly loves Lily and that what they’re doing is not wrong. Gede was worried that they might not give them their blessings, but to their surprise Georgia and David agreed to the marriage and gave their blessings.
Another place on Hamilton Island that we see in one of the scenes is the Qualia, a resort where Georgia and David spend the night.
Tamborine National Park, Brisbane:
The beautiful rainforest that David and Georgia encountered a romantic sunset in was the Tamborine National Park, located in South Brisbane. Visitors can spot picturesque scenes of the Pacific Ocean and Gold Coast skyline from this rainforest. This is the same forest that Lily and Gede get lost in after being chased around by a wild animal.
Tangalooma Island Resort, Queensland, Australia:
The hilarious scene where David is bitten by a Dolphin was filmed at Lucinda Bay in Tangalooma Island Resort. The place is known for its large population of Dolphins and is often a tourist spot because of this.
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia:
Asides from Hamilton Island, Lily, and Gede’s wedding scenes were also shot at Moreton Island in Queensland. The sunset views from this Island are immaculate, making the place a perfect location for filming a romantic after-wedding scene.
Ticket To Paradise is now available to watch on Netflix and Prime Video.
