JayDaYoungan was an American rapper from Bogalusa, Louisiana. He is best known for his songs “Elimination, “opps,” and”23 Island”, which have been viewed over 14 million times on SoundCloud. JayDaYoungan began rapping at 12 and released his first mixtape in 2016. He has since released several other mixtapes and his debut studio album, “TrapHouse Joddy”, in 2017. JayDaYoungan was signed to Cinematic, Ruffway, and Atlantic.
JayDaYoungan’s Life
JayDaYoungan was born Javorius Tykies Scott on July 15, 1998, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. As stated earlier, JayDaYoungan began rapping at a young age, and since that became his passion, he dropped out of high school to pursue the dream of becoming a famous rapper. Back in 2017, he dropped his first mixtape, and it became a local hit. After that, he dropped another mixtape titled “The Real Jumpman 23.” Then, he dropped two more, titled “Wake Up” and “Taking Off,” that had collaborations with NBA 3Three and FG Famous.
JayDaYoungan rose to fame in the United States with a song called “Elimination” that streamed on Spotify and became a TikTok viral sensation. After that hit, he dropped the Forever 23 mixtape, which made him an international success. Following Forever 23, he went on to record and release “Endless Pain” and worked with Yungee Ace for a collaborative mixtape called “Cant Speak On It.” The rapper would later continue to produce mixtapes and songs like “Touch Your Toes,” “Perky Activated,” “23 Island,” and “38k.”
Legal Trouble
After being pulled over by the cops in Gadsden County, Florida, on May 11, 2019, JayDaYoungan was charged with the felony possession of a controlled substance without a legal, medical prescription. The Police pulled over a vehicle and discovered 20 grams of marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia and oxycodone pills. A gun was also discovered to be in possession of one of the passengers. Other charges involving the drugs and guns were brought against the people who were riding with him. JayDaYoungan was granted bail of $2,500 and released on May 12. Due to his arrest, Scott was unable to participate in his scheduled performance at the Rolling Loud Music Festival. Scott had not yet faced a courtroom.
The cops conducted a raid on JayDaYoungan’s home in March 2020 following allegations that he had assaulted a pregnant lady. The police seized $24,000 in cash, Promethazine, Oxycodone, and numerous firearms. JayDaYoungan was found hiding in an attic when the police discovered him. The rapper was given a $20,000 bail after being charged with assaulting a pregnant woman and possessing illegal substances.
Bad Rep
In connection with a fatal shooting that took place in August 2020, Scott was detained on September 16, 2021, on suspicion of being an accessory to second-degree murder and obstructing the course of justice. JayDaYoungan was released on a $175,000 bond four days later.
The rapper was detained during a traffic stop in Washington Parish, Louisiana on October 30, 2021, and was taken into custody on several counts, including child abandonment, driving without insurance, possession of drugs, and tampering with evidence. Scott was granted bond and released from custody on November 4, 2021. On November 4, 2021, Scott was detained by agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on federal charges—hours after posting bond in his case in Washington Parish.
Plea Bargain
On June 16, 2022, the rapper entered a plea of guilty to possessing a firearm while facing an indictment or felony charges. Scott received time served and a year of supervised release in exchange for his plea. Additionally, he was subject to a $5,500 fine and a $100 special assessment fee.
How Did JayDaYoungan Die?
On July 27, 2022, three armed gunmen entered a black truck as JayDaYoungan and his father, Kenyatta Scott, were on their front lawn in Bogalusa. JayDaYoungan and his dad attempted to flee inside the house, but two more shooters showed up from the side of the house and opened fire. In self-defense, Scott Sr. produced his own gun and fired back. JayDaYoungan got shot eight times and later passed away at a hospital in nearby Bogalusa. Scott Sr. was shot twice, but his condition was stable.
