Holes (2003) is a comedic-drama film directed by American cinematographer Andrew Davis. This film is based on a novel written by Louis Sachar in the year 1998. Holes is presented by the American film production company Walt Disney Pictures. The story revolves around the unleashing secrets of a teenager, Stanley Yelnats IV(Shia LaBeouf), born in a family whose great-great-grandfather, Elya Yelnats got cursed as he believed that he failed to keep the promise from a gypsy, Madame Zeroni, from whom he received a pig in return of carrying Madame Zeroni up a mountain as she had only one leg and sing her a song.
Stanley’s fortune carried him up to the detention camp, “Camp Green Lake,” for eighteen months, where he was told by Mr. Sir (Jon Voight), assistant of the warden (Sigourney Weaver), to dig a hole in the desert, which would return improve every single detained child in the camp. The boy, along with his friends at the camp, unfolds the intentions of the warden and her staff to force the kids to dig holes. The movie carries interest and suspense throughout its duration, and it is a blend of drama, comedy, and adventure.
