Danity Kane has been known for their controversies and, most importantly, for their clashes with each other. They are an American pop girl group that was formed in 2005, and they released their debut album Danity Kane 1, with their single “Show Stopper” entering the Top 10 list. They were put together as a band in the show Making a Band 3, an MTV reality show.
They were signed to Bad Boy Records by Sean Combs, who was also the judge of the show and the one who put together this group. They released their second album in 2008 named Welcome to the Dollhouse. They went on to be one of the most popular bands of the 00s.
The line of group consists of Audrea Fimbres, D. Woods, Shannon Bex, Dawn Richard, and Aubrey O’Day. Even though members of the group no longer resonate with each other and have tried to reconcile several times in the past, their songs and stage presence have always been appreciated by the fans. The group has been through many ups and downs but has never been disappointed with their songs, electric performances, and eccentric stage presence. Currently, the group is disbanded due to their irreconcilable differences.
History of Danity Kane over the years
After their formation in 2005 and releasing their first two albums within the first three years and their third album released in 2014, six years later, they released their second album. The band, over the seventeen years of its existence, has disbanded two times and their third disbanding being the final one and putting a stop to Danity Kane. In 2008, D. Woods and O’Day announced that she was no longer a part of Danity Kane, parting ways with the group for good.
O’Day and Woods were best friends at that time and shared a great bond. It was also reported that their decision was an after-effect of their fight with Combs, which resulted in them taking such a drastic decision. The group didn’t stand on its for longer as they decided to disband in 2009.
Richard, in an interview in January 2009, expressed her grief and sadness about their split and went ahead to brief the situation about their third member Shannon Bex, who was supposed to return but didn’t upon being invited by Combs.
Woods claimed that since she was fired from the group, there was no way she would ever be invited back to the group by Combs. Richard and Fimbrey wished to continue the band, but unfortunately, things took an upturn. The influence of Diddy over the group was highly criticized by the fans, and they felt that he was the reason behind the stagnant potential growth of the group.
The band reunited in 2013, along with O’Day but split up again in a year itself. In May 2014, Fimbres, on the last day of her tour, announced that she would no longer be a part of Danity Kane as she wished to focus on her solo career and her personal life and family.
They returned on their terms this time, without the guardianship of Diddy but split up again in August 2014. It was reported that Richard had punched O’Day in the recording studio, which ensued a conflict within the group, and despite their split, they will still be releasing their third album Danity Kane 3.
The group members went ahead to pursue their own solo careers and flourished in their respective music careers. Bex and O’Day started working together as a duo under the duo name Dumblonde.
But things weren’t the same for long, as the group did not stay away from each other for long, as they announced their second and final reunion in August 2018, with a big announcement for their next tour, “The Universe is Undefeated Tour” after making amend with each other and discussing their issues with other.
The group now returned as a trio and released new solos like “New Kings,” which went on to reach heights. In 2020, the group went on to be disbanded for the third and final time, separating their ways for one last time for good.
