General Hospital, the American Daytime soap, is one of the oldest-running tv shows ever. The show first premiered on 1st April 1963. It is recognized as the longest-running American soap opera in production by Guinness World Records. With 14 victories, it maintains the record for the most Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series. The show was included in Time magazine’s list of the “100 Best TV Shows of All-Time” in 2007. The COVID-19 epidemic in the United States directly contributed to the March 2020 suspension of General Hospital’s production.
New episodes started airing on 3rd August 2020, after production resumed on 22nd July 2020. On 22nd June 2022, the show commemorated its 15,000th episode. In 2022, there were numerous cast changes for General Hospital. Most of the changes were exited, while there were a few newcomers and returns. One such exit was that of Michael Blake Kruse’s character Rory, after the horrific circumstances of the episode on 14th December.
Who is Rory from General Hospital?
Michael Blake Kruse joined the cast on 29th March 2022 and now bids farewell after a rather short run through the show. Michael Blake Kruse has made appearances in episodes of Televisions classics such as Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy. Throughout his run in General Hospital, female watchers, including young heroine Trina Robinson, were entranced by this handsome police officer. Officer Rory Cabrera first appeared during Trina’s arrest for leaking a sex tape.
Since then, the officer has helped Trina with courthouse issues to comfort her. A romantic story started brewing between them, leading to one of General Hospital’s iconic love triangles between Rory, Trina, and Spencer. Despite Trina’s attempts to Friend Zone him, Rory testified on her behalf at her trial and was frank about his affection for her. Rory may not have been the excellent cop that everyone believed him to be, according to some fans’ theories.

A new death occurs in Port Charles due to The Hook’s latest attack, according to the General Hospital recap for the episode that aired on Thursday, 15th December 2022. In the episode, Rory finds himself coming face to face with the hook killer. As the hook killer raises their weapon, Rory turns around and pulls the trigger simultaneously. When Dante enters the apartment, where he finds wounded Rory, who stumbles outside and lands on the sofa.
Rory tells Dante that it was the Hook Killer before he started bleeding from his mouth. Dante, Jordan, and the police assist in getting Rory to the hospital, where Jordan informs Portia that they require antivenom. Finn and Portia treat Rory in the operating room. Liz worries that the antivenom could go to waste if it was not the Hook killer who attacked Rory.
Later, Trina shows up at the hospital, where Jordan is questioned by Trina about Rory. Rory has lost a lot of blood and is weak, according to Portia, who informs the group. When Rory is brought out, She hears him say in a quiet voice that he understands it is too early for him to express his feelings, but he doesn’t regret anything and is glad she knows. In no time at all, Rory passes away.
Michael Blake Kruse’s departure from General Hospital
On 15th December, Kruse posted an Instagram story of an image of his character with two XXs over his eyes and a goodbye caption, mourning for his Rory. Regarding his portrayal of Officer Rory Cabrera, Kruse speaks. While being enjoyable, it has also presented challenges for him.
He is still getting accustomed to working so frequently throughout the year and needing to be on point every week and learn lines every week and is hopeful he was able to deliver a good, captivating performance. He noted that the fact that his character, Rory, is so strikingly similar to him helped in developing the character.
Though He makes an effort to make him amusing, Rory mostly speaks to him on an emotional level. He says Rory is an individual who wishes to do the right thing and cares about people, and he has respect for law enforcement in general.
