About Sugar Apple Fairy Tale
Sugar Apple Fairy Tale is an anime adaptation of a light novel by Miri Mikawa. The animation is done by the studio J.C. Staff. The Story revolves around a 15-year-old girl Anne Halford as our main character in a world where fairies exist.
In this world, humans and fairies do co-exist, but humans treat fairies as mere workers and force them to work against their will. Humans control the fairies by plucking one of their wings as the life force of the fairies is in their wings.
The fairies can survive without a wing, but if the wing is damaged, the fairy gets weakened and eventually dies. The fairies are also responsible for the making of the sacred food Sugar Confections.
They first made the sugar confections by the process of refining a sugar apple into silver sugar. This Sugar confection increases the life span of the fairies and brings fortune to humans. This is the reason sugar artisans, especially the silver sugar masters, never look down on the fairies as they are slaves like other people because they are the ones who first made the Sugar confections.
Our main character Anne decides to become a silver sugar master just like her late mother. Silver Sugar Master is a renowned job with very few practitioners, so to become one, Anne has to travel all the way to the town of Lewiston and win the sugar sculpture festival organized by the royal family.
To reach the town of Lewiston, she has to cross The bloody highway. A long route with dangers like bandits and wild animals with no village in between. For this purpose, she goes to a fairy slave market to buy a warrior fairy to escort her through her journey. There she buys a warrior fairy to escort her through the dangers of the bloody highway.
