Summer Time Render Episode 19 is set to release this week. Yasuki Tanaka wrote and drew the manga Summertime Rendering. Originally published on the 23rd of October 2017, it ran for 13 volumes until the 1st of February 2021. A series of anime adaptations were produced by OLM studios. On April 15th, 2021, the first episode of Summertime Rendering was released.
We see in episode 18, during their conversation, Shinpei and Ushio reveal to Karikiri that he is Shidehiko Hishigata, founder of the Hishigata clan. After some pleasantries, Shinpei holds him at gunpoint and throws him photos of himself from decades ago, revealing that Seido has told him that Karikiri is Shidehiko Hishigata, His husband was Haine’s original husband when Hiruko came to the island and copied her, and he is a human/Shadow hybrid that keeps his youth by copying his memories and personality and putting them into hybrid bodies birthed through actual conception with Haine every few years. Shide taunts Shinpei about killing his parents, but Shinpei tries to persuade him to give up Haine.
Summer Time Render Episode 18 Review
It was an action-packed episode, and Karakiri, Hitogashima’s priest, finally confronted us. Just as Shinpei walked so far forward in a loop to avoid being devoured the first time (and only time), Ushio and Shinpei have one more chance to escape. It’s clear that he holds the answers to many of the mysteries around here, and we’re going to learn many more things about him as the game progresses. They did come out all at once. Before the halfway point of the episode, we found out everything we needed to know about Haine, her appearance on Hitogashima island, and her connection to Shide.
In Addition, Karakiri was at the center of a link between the Haine and the Hitogashima shrines. Throughout the show, we were introduced to him and were shown that he was much more deeply involved with this than we had ever imagined. Trusting him was not a good idea. As a result, the show allows us to organically fall into the surprise without much prelude. Shinpei and he had a wonderful talk, but you could sense he was wary of everything.
Even though the conversation about Final Fantasy 7 seemed pleasant from the top, his mannerisms and the way he was animated, together with the mood at that particular moment, were enough to set the tone for that whole confrontation. It was clear the proverbial was about to go down, and tension was palpable in the air.

It delved deeper into Ushio and Shinpei’s psyche than it ever has, despite revealing some huge plot details. This episode ended on perhaps the darkest note the series has ever touched and probably ever will, and it was one of the tensest episodes in the series. That covers quite a bit of ground. The entire drowning flashback, Ryuunosuke’s death, and the entire island celebration were all less grim, showcasing the world and characters the show has created.
In addition to the animation, the series has become known for its experimentation, which was a great success this time around. This video featured some amazing close-ups (see the gallery above), watercolor-style frames, and highly detailed backgrounds that worked wonderfully. We have not spoken about the soundtrack for a while, but it was equally crucial to giving this episode the sense of despair that it conveyed. If you weren’t already scared about the show’s conclusion, you would be after this one. But don’t worry, for it’s not scary in a bad way.
