Spider-Man has earned his reputation as one of Marvel’s greatest superheroes through a combination of incredible strength, lightning-fast reflexes, and unmatched determination. His Spider-Sense, agility, and quick thinking allow him to defeat opponents who often appear far more powerful. However, anime follows a very different approach to power scaling. Many protagonists and heroes possess abilities capable of destroying cities, planets, or even entire universes, placing them far beyond the limits of traditional comic book street-level heroes.

This list compares Spider-Man with 16 anime heroes whose canon feats, confirmed abilities, and power levels give them a clear advantage in a one-on-one battle.

1. Saitama (One Punch Man)

The hero of One Punch Man was created as a parody of overpowered protagonists, which means traditional power scaling barely applies to him. Throughout the series, he defeats monsters with almost no effort. While Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s strongest street-level heroes, Saitama exists on a completely different level.

Spider-Man’s greatest strengths have never been raw power alone. His Spider Sense, lightning-fast reflexes, web-shooters, and brilliant tactical thinking allow him to overcome enemies much stronger than himself. Those abilities have helped him battle villains such as Venom, Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, and even cosmic threats under the right circumstances. Against Saitama, however, none of those advantages would significantly change the outcome because the gap in physical power is simply too large.

Saitama has repeatedly demonstrated feats that place him among anime’s strongest heroes. He effortlessly destroyed a giant meteor, defeated planet-threatening monsters, and survived attacks capable of devastating entire planets without showing serious injuries. Even during his battle against Cosmic Garou, one of the most powerful opponents introduced in the series, Saitama continued growing stronger while remaining largely unfazed. The anime deliberately avoids defining his limits, making his true ceiling impossible to measure.

Spider-Man would likely survive longer than many opponents thanks to his incredible mobility and Spider Sense, allowing him to dodge attacks that would instantly defeat most heroes. However, avoiding Saitama is very different from defeating him. Peter Parker has no weapon or ability capable of overcoming Saitama’s overwhelming durability and limitless strength.

Based on their established feats, this matchup is heavily one-sided. Spider-Man remains one of Marvel’s greatest superheroes because of his courage, intelligence, and determination, but those qualities cannot bridge the enormous difference in power.

2. Son Goku (Dragon Ball Super)

For decades, the Dragon Ball protagonist has continued breaking his own limits, reaching levels of strength that far exceed those of most superheroes. By the events of Dragon Ball Super, Goku has become a warrior capable of battling opponents who threaten entire universes. Compared to that level of power, Spider-Man cannot compete in a direct fight.

His Spider Sense warns him of incoming danger, allowing him to react faster than most opponents. Those abilities are extremely effective against enemies within Marvel’s street-level and even some higher-tier categories. However, Goku regularly fights opponents who move faster than light, unleash universe-shaking attacks, and survive energy blasts capable of destroying planets.

Ultra Instinct creates an even bigger advantage. This transformation allows Goku’s body to react independently, eliminating the delay caused by conscious thought. Even if Spider-Man’s Spider Sense detects an incoming attack, Goku’s overwhelming speed and automatic reactions would make landing meaningful hits incredibly difficult.

Strength is another decisive factor. Throughout Dragon Ball Super, Goku clashes with gods, destroys massive environments during battles, and exchanges attacks powerful enough to threaten the stability of entire universes. Spider-Man has displayed remarkable feats for a human hero, including lifting enormous structures and defeating physically stronger enemies through strategy. Those accomplishments are impressive, but they operate on an entirely different scale.

One important reason Goku ranks so highly is his experience. He has spent his entire life fighting martial artists, aliens, gods, and reality-threatening villains. Every battle pushes him to become stronger and develop new techniques. Spider-Man is an exceptional fighter, but he has never faced an opponent whose physical abilities rival Goku’s.

3. Vegeta (Dragon Ball Super)

Vegeta never likes to hold back when a fight gets serious. He attacks head-on, constantly pressuring his opponents and giving them very little chance to recover. After years of training with gods and some of the strongest fighters in the universe, he’s sharpened both his incredible strength and his battle instincts to an exceptional level.

Instead of weakening as battles continue, Ultra Ego allows Vegeta to grow stronger after taking damage. Spider-Man often relies on wearing opponents down through constant movement and repeated attacks, but that strategy would work against him here. Every successful hit could actually increase Vegeta’s strength, making the fight even more difficult as time passed.

Vegeta also possesses devastating energy attacks capable of destroying planets and fighting opponents on a universal scale. Combined with incredible speed, flight, and unmatched durability, he has tools that Spider-Man has never encountered in a one-on-one battle. Peter’s webbing and acrobatic movement would create temporary openings, but they would not stop Vegeta from closing the distance almost instantly.

Another factor is Vegeta’s battle experience. He has spent decades fighting elite warriors across the universe, adapting to constantly evolving threats while refining his combat skills. Spider-Man is highly intelligent and creative, but overcoming such an enormous difference in destructive power would be virtually impossible.

4. Naruto Uzumaki (Naruto: Shippuden)

Naruto Uzumaki’s journey from an overlooked academy student to the Hero of the Hidden Leaf Village is one of anime’s greatest success stories. By the end of Naruto: Shippuden, he possesses power that places him among the strongest ninjas in history. While Spider-Man has repeatedly overcome impossible odds through intelligence and resilience, Naruto’s final abilities give him advantages that are too significant to ignore.

After receiving Six Paths Sage Mode, Naruto gains a dramatic increase in speed, strength, sensory abilities, and durability. He can create thousands of Shadow Clones, each capable of fighting independently, making it extremely difficult for any opponent to identify the real Naruto. Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense would certainly help him avoid surprise attacks, but dealing with countless powerful clones simultaneously would quickly become overwhelming.

Naruto also has access to devastating long-range attacks, including massive Rasengan variations and Tailed Beast techniques capable of leveling enormous areas. Combined with Kurama’s chakra, his stamina far exceeds that of most anime protagonists. Even if Spider-Man managed to keep the battle going, Naruto could continue fighting at full strength for far longer.

Durability is another major difference. Naruto has survived attacks from some of the strongest shinobi in history while continuing to fight at an elite level. Spider-Man has incredible endurance, but he has never demonstrated the ability to withstand attacks on the same scale as Naruto’s most powerful opponents.

5. Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto: Shippuden)

Naruto may be the face of the franchise, but Sasuke Uchiha is every bit as formidable in a one-on-one fight. By the end of Naruto Shippuden, he commands an extraordinary blend of speed, intelligence, and powerful abilities that place him among the greatest shinobi in history. While Spider-Man depends on agility and split-second improvisation, Sasuke controls the flow of battle with space-time techniques and overwhelming ocular powers.

Sasuke’s Susanoo creates another nearly impossible obstacle. This massive chakra warrior serves as both an offensive weapon and an incredibly durable shield. Spider-Man’s punches, kicks, and webbing have stopped powerful enemies before, but breaking through Susanoo would require destructive power far beyond anything Peter has consistently displayed in Marvel Comics.

The Uchiha prodigy also possesses devastating techniques such as Amaterasu, whose black flames continue burning until their target is consumed. Combined with Chidori, advanced genjutsu, and years of elite combat experience, Sasuke has an answer for almost every fighting style. His calm and analytical approach also makes him exceptionally difficult to outsmart.

Spider-Man deserves recognition for defeating opponents much stronger than himself through creativity and determination. However, Sasuke’s overwhelming arsenal gives Peter very few opportunities to turn the fight in his favor. The gap in raw power, combined with space-time abilities and nearly impenetrable defenses, makes this matchup heavily one-sided.

6. Madara Uchiha (Naruto: Shippuden)

Throughout the Fourth Great Ninja War, he repeatedly proved why he was considered one of the greatest threats in the history of the shinobi world. Even before becoming the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, Madara overwhelmed entire armies almost effortlessly. Once he achieved his final transformation, his abilities reached a level that only a handful of characters in the series could challenge.

Spider-Man has defeated powerful villains throughout Marvel history, but Madara presents a completely different type of opponent. His speed allows him to battle elite shinobi simultaneously, while his immense chakra reserves let him unleash devastating techniques without quickly exhausting himself. Peter Parker’s mobility would certainly help him evade attacks early in the fight, but surviving is very different from finding a way to win.

Madara’s arsenal is remarkably diverse. He can summon meteors large enough to devastate battlefields, create enormous Susanoo constructs, absorb chakra-based attacks, and regenerate from injuries that would defeat most opponents instantly. As the Ten-Tails Jinchuriki, he also gains Truth-Seeking Orbs capable of erasing almost anything they touch. Those abilities leave Spider-Man with virtually no safe opening to exploit.

Experience is another major advantage. Madara spent decades mastering countless combat techniques while fighting some of the strongest shinobi in history. He remains calm under pressure and quickly adapts to unfamiliar abilities, making it difficult for even experienced heroes to surprise him.

Spider-Man’s intelligence and resourcefulness have helped him overcome impossible situations throughout his career. Against Madara, however, strategy alone cannot overcome the enormous difference in power and versatility. Every major advantage belongs to the legendary Uchiha.

7. Meruem (Hunter x Hunter)

Meruem stands out from many characters on this list because his greatest strength is not simply overwhelming destructive power. The Chimera Ant King is terrifying because of how quickly he learns, adapts, and improves during battle. Even among the strongest characters in Hunter x Hunter, Meruem is portrayed as a perfect life form whose intelligence rivals his incredible physical abilities.

Meruem’s physical abilities alone place him in a class of his own. The Chimera Ant King effortlessly defeated veteran Nen users and withstood Chairman Netero’s devastating attacks, feats that would have overwhelmed nearly every other character in the series. His extraordinary speed, lightning-fast reflexes, and incredible durability make it exceptionally difficult for even the strongest opponents to land clean, effective hits.

Meruem’s intelligence makes the matchup even more challenging. Throughout the series, he demonstrates the ability to master complex games within hours while constantly studying his opponents during combat. Spider-Man is undoubtedly brilliant, but facing an opponent who evolves mentally and physically as the fight continues would leave Peter with fewer opportunities to outthink him.

Many anime heroes depend on flashy energy attacks, but Meruem fights with efficiency and precision instead. Every movement serves a purpose, and every exchange helps him better understand his opponent. That relentless ability to adapt gradually strips away Spider-Man’s greatest strengths.

8. Escanor (The Seven Deadly Sins)

During the morning, Escanor steadily becomes more powerful until reaching his legendary form known as The One at noon. At that point, he transforms into one of the strongest characters in The Seven Deadly Sins, possessing strength capable of overwhelming even the Demon King’s most powerful warriors.

During Escanor’s peak, he effortlessly defeats enemies that threaten entire kingdoms while displaying durability that allows him to withstand devastating magical attacks. Peter’s incredible athleticism and Spider Sense would help him avoid some attacks, but escaping every strike from Escanor would be nearly impossible.

One of Escanor’s greatest advantages is Sunshine, the sacred power that steadily increases his strength as noon approaches. Instead of wearing down as a battle drags on, Escanor reaches his absolute peak when it matters most. His confidence rises alongside his power, allowing him to dominate fights through sheer presence as much as overwhelming physical force.

Even outside his strongest form, Escanor possesses immense durability and destructive capability. His attacks generate tremendous heat, while his physical strikes can level massive structures with ease. Spider-Man’s webbing would offer little protection against that level of overwhelming force.

Another important factor is Escanor’s fearless personality. He rarely hesitates in combat and prefers ending battles quickly rather than allowing opponents to recover. That aggressive style leaves Spider-Man with very little time to develop a strategy capable of changing the outcome.

9. Anos Voldigoad (The Misfit of Demon King Academy)

From the moment Anos Voldigoad appears in The Misfit of Demon King Academy, the series makes it clear that conventional rules do not apply to him. He effortlessly defeats enemies who believe they have already won, revives after seemingly impossible situations, and treats world-ending threats as minor inconveniences. While Spider-Man regularly overcomes stronger opponents through intelligence and determination, Anos exists on an entirely different level of power.

What separates Anos from many other overpowered heroes is the sheer variety of his abilities. He possesses immense magical power, extraordinary physical strength, near-instant regeneration, and spells capable of rewriting reality itself. Throughout the series, he casually destroys powerful opponents while barely taking battles seriously. Even characters considered legendary within his own universe struggle to challenge him.

As the former Demon King, he has fought wars, defeated countless powerful enemies, and mastered magic far beyond the understanding of ordinary beings. His calm confidence allows him to analyze situations almost instantly while responding with overwhelming force whenever necessary.

10. Rimuru Tempest (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime)

Rimuru Tempest begins his journey as an ordinary office worker who is reincarnated as a slime, but that humble beginning quickly evolves into one of anime’s greatest power progression stories. By the later stages of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Rimuru has become one of the strongest beings in his world, possessing abilities that far exceed anything Spider-Man has ever encountered.

Rimuru wins battles through an incredible collection of unique skills. Thanks to abilities such as Predator, Beelzebuth, Raphael, and later Ciel, Rimuru can analyze enemies, absorb attacks, copy abilities, and develop strategies in real time. Every battle makes Rimuru even more versatile, creating an opponent who constantly grows stronger.

Durability is another area where Rimuru enjoys a massive advantage. Throughout the anime and light novels, Rimuru survives attacks capable of destroying entire armies while continuing to fight almost effortlessly. His regenerative abilities also ensure that even significant damage rarely becomes a lasting problem.

Rimuru’s personality should not be overlooked either. Although generally kind and diplomatic, he quickly becomes serious when friends or allies are threatened. Once he decides to end a fight, he wastes very little time using his overwhelming abilities to secure victory.

11. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Widely recognized as the strongest sorcerer in Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo possesses abilities that fundamentally change how battles unfold. Instead of relying purely on overwhelming physical strength, he controls space itself, creating defensive techniques that make him nearly impossible to touch. Against Spider-Man, those abilities would create an almost impossible challenge.

Gojo’s Infinity technique is the biggest reason this matchup heavily favors him. Rather than blocking attacks directly, Infinity continuously slows anything approaching him so that it never actually reaches his body. Physical punches, kicks, thrown objects, and even Spider-Man’s webbing would stop before making contact. Peter Parker’s incredible speed becomes largely irrelevant if he cannot land a meaningful hit.

Offensively, Gojo is equally dangerous. Techniques such as Blue, Red, and Hollow Purple combine overwhelming force with advanced cursed energy manipulation capable of destroying everything in their path. Spider-Man has survived countless difficult battles, but he has rarely faced attacks that manipulate space itself.

Another decisive factor is Domain Expansion. Unlimited Void traps opponents inside a space overflowing with endless information, overwhelming their minds almost instantly. Without an equivalent defensive ability, Spider-Man would struggle to escape before Gojo secured victory.

12. Kaido (One Piece)

Kaido earned the title of the World’s Strongest Creature through decades of incredible feats and battlefield dominance. As captain of the Beasts Pirates and one of the Four Emperors, Kaido repeatedly proved that defeating him required the combined efforts of some of the strongest fighters in the series. Against Spider-Man, his overwhelming durability and destructive power create an almost impossible obstacle.

Kaido from One Piece

Kaido’s greatest strength is his resilience. Throughout the Wano Country arc, he withstands attacks from numerous elite warriors while continuing to fight. Even techniques infused with advanced Haki struggle to slow him down.

His Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit gives him another major advantage. Kaido can transform into a massive Azure Dragon capable of flying across the battlefield while unleashing devastating elemental attacks. Powerful Blast Breath techniques destroy enormous sections of the environment, forcing opponents to constantly remain on the defensive.

Close combat is equally dangerous. Kaido’s signature weapon, the kanabo, delivers strikes powerful enough to defeat elite fighters with a single clean hit. Combined with his mastery of Haki, every attack becomes a serious threat even to highly durable opponents.

13. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece, Gear 5)

Luffy has always relied on creativity rather than overwhelming strength alone, but his Gear 5 transformation elevates him into an entirely different class of anime heroes. Introduced during the climax of the Wano Country arc, this awakening gives the Straw Hat captain abilities that bend the normal rules of combat. While Spider-Man is famous for thinking outside the box during fights, Gear 5 allows Luffy to reshape the battlefield itself, making him one of the toughest opponents Peter Parker could ever face.

Luffy from One Piece

Luffy can stretch his body in impossible ways, turn his surroundings into rubber, and manipulate attacks with cartoon-like freedom. His fighting style becomes almost impossible to anticipate because it ignores conventional physics. Spider-Man’s Spider Sense would warn him of incoming danger, but reacting to attacks that constantly change shape and direction would still be an enormous challenge.

Luffy’s physical abilities also increase dramatically after awakening his Devil Fruit. His strength, speed, endurance, and durability reach levels capable of matching the strongest pirates in the world. During his battle against Kaido, Luffy continued fighting after enduring attacks that would have defeated almost any other character. His recovery and stamina make him incredibly difficult to wear down.

Haki gives Luffy another decisive advantage. With mastery of all three forms, including advanced Conqueror’s Haki and Observation Haki, he can both defend against powerful attacks and strike with tremendous force. Spider-Man’s agility would help him avoid some attacks, but prolonged combat against someone with Luffy’s endurance and destructive power would quickly become overwhelming.

14. Shanks (One Piece)

Shanks has never needed flashy transformations or elaborate supernatural techniques to build his legendary reputation. Even so, he stands among the most feared figures in One Piece. As one of the Four Emperors, he commands respect through overwhelming Haki, exceptional swordsmanship, and decades of combat experience. His mere presence is often enough to bring battles to an end before they even begin.

Shanks from One Piece

Shanks combines incredible speed with flawless swordsmanship, allowing him to defeat elite opponents using precise and efficient attacks. Spider-Man has faced experienced martial artists throughout his career, but very few possess the combination of speed, power, and battlefield awareness that Shanks consistently demonstrates.

His mastery of Conqueror’s Haki creates another significant advantage. Shanks has displayed some of the strongest Haki in the series, overwhelming opponents without even making physical contact. Advanced Observation Haki also allows him to predict enemy movements, reducing the effectiveness of Spider-Man’s greatest strength, his unpredictability.

He rarely acts recklessly and carefully studies situations before making his move. That experience has allowed him to compete against some of the strongest pirates in history, including Whitebeard and Kaido. Peter Parker’s intelligence would certainly make him a challenging opponent, but Shanks has repeatedly shown he can remain composed under enormous pressure.

15. Alucard (Hellsing Ultimate)

Alucard is one of the most difficult anime characters to defeat because conventional victories simply do not apply to him. The legendary vampire from Hellsing Ultimate possesses extraordinary regeneration, immense supernatural power, and centuries of combat experience. Spider-Man has overcome dangerous enemies through perseverance and clever tactics, but an immortal opponent who repeatedly recovers from fatal injuries presents a challenge far beyond what Peter Parker normally faces.

Alucard from hellsing ultimate
Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate (Image via Madhouse)

Throughout the series, Alucard survives gunfire, explosions, decapitation attempts, and countless other attacks that would instantly kill ordinary fighters. Even when his body appears completely destroyed, he quickly restores himself and returns to battle. Spider-Man’s punches and webbing simply lack the stopping power needed to permanently defeat an opponent with that level of immortality.

Beyond regeneration, Alucard commands a vast collection of supernatural abilities. He can summon the souls of enemies he has consumed, transform into terrifying monstrous forms, and overwhelm opponents through sheer endurance. His powers make prolonged battles almost impossible to win because he rarely grows weaker as fights continue.

Experience also favors the vampire. Alucard has spent centuries fighting soldiers, monsters, and supernatural beings across countless conflicts. He remains calm regardless of the situation and often studies opponents before revealing the true extent of his strength. Spider-Man’s intelligence would certainly keep the battle competitive at first, but Alucard’s patience and adaptability would eventually shift the fight in his favor.

16. Ichigo Kurosaki (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War)

Ichigo Kurosaki has grown far beyond the substitute Soul Reaper introduced at the beginning of Bleach. By the events of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, he possesses the combined powers of a Soul Reaper, Hollow, Quincy, and Human, making him one of the strongest heroes in the franchise. His evolution places him on a level that few anime protagonists can match, and it creates an overwhelming advantage against Spider-Man in a direct fight.

Ichigo Kurusaki from Bleach
Ichigo Kurusaki from Bleach (Image via Studio Pierrot)

Ichigo’s greatest strength is the balance between speed and power. He regularly battles opponents who move at incredible velocities while delivering attacks capable of cutting through massive enemies with a single swing of Zangetsu.

Durability is another important factor. Throughout the series, Ichigo survives brutal encounters against captains, Espada, and Quincy warriors who possess devastating techniques. Even after taking heavy damage, he repeatedly returns stronger and continues fighting. Peter Parker has remarkable endurance, but he has never consistently endured attacks on the same level as Ichigo’s strongest opponents.

Ichigo also benefits from years of combat experience against enemies with vastly different abilities. He quickly adapts during battles, making it difficult for opponents to rely on a single strategy. Spider-Man’s creativity would certainly make the fight entertaining, but Ichigo has repeatedly overcome unpredictable enemies through instinct and determination.
