Yamcha has spent years as the target of countless Dragon Ball jokes, but the memes often overshadow what he actually accomplished in the series. While he cannot compete with characters like Goku, Vegeta, or Beerus, he remains an experienced martial artist with incredible speed, powerful Ki attacks, and years of combat experience against world-ending threats.
These are 15 anime villains who would realistically struggle against the former Desert Bandit and likely lose in a fair one-on-one fight.
1. Buggy the Clown
Buggy is one of the most recognizable pirates in One Piece, but his reputation often exceeds his actual fighting ability. Thanks to the Chop-Chop Fruit, he can split his body into separate pieces and is completely immune to sword attacks. That ability has helped him survive countless dangerous situations, yet it does little against opponents who rely on overwhelming physical strength or ranged attacks.

Even early in Dragon Ball, Yamcha could keep up with fighters capable of moving faster than the human eye could follow. Buggy has never shown the speed needed to keep pace with someone operating at that level. Before Buggy could come up with one of his usual tricks, Yamcha would likely close the distance with Wolf Fang Fist or launch a barrage of Ki blasts from the air.
While Buggy is surprisingly resilient and often survives through luck, he has rarely demonstrated the toughness to absorb attacks from someone with Yamcha’s destructive power. A direct Kamehameha or Spirit Ball attack would be far beyond anything Buggy has endured in a straight fight. His Devil Fruit cannot protect him from energy explosions or heavy blunt force.
Buggy also tends to rely on allies, confusion, and psychological tactics rather than winning fair one-on-one battles. Remove those advantages and place him in an open arena against Yamcha, and the fight becomes very one-sided.
2. Kirei Kotomine
Kirei Kotomine’s mastery of Bajiquan makes him deadly at close range, and his years of combat experience allow him to stay calm even against powerful opponents. Unlike many villains who rely entirely on supernatural abilities, Kirei combines intelligence, physical conditioning, and precise technique.

Dragon Ball characters possess physical abilities that far exceed what most anime fighters can achieve. Yamcha can fly, fire destructive Ki attacks, and move at incredible speeds that ordinary martial artists cannot react to. While Kirei may have the technical advantage in terms of real-world martial arts knowledge, that advantage becomes meaningless when facing someone who is dramatically faster and stronger.
Yamcha has trained under legendary martial artists, battled alien invaders, and survived encounters with enemies capable of destroying entire cities and planets. Those battles forced him to constantly improve his reflexes and adaptability. Kirei is an excellent strategist, but he has never fought someone who can instantly change the battlefield by attacking from the sky or unleashing powerful energy blasts.
If the fight stays at close range, Yamcha’s Wolf Fang Fist would likely overwhelm Kirei before he could fully capitalize on his technique.
3. Thorkell the Tall
Thorkell’s enormous size, incredible strength, and remarkable endurance allow him to defeat groups of experienced soldiers almost by himself. He can throw massive weapons with incredible force, shrug off serious injuries, and continue fighting with a smile. Against ordinary humans, Thorkell feels almost unstoppable because very few people can match his physical abilities.

Even with those impressive feats, Yamcha holds several advantages that completely change the matchup. Yamcha has spent years fighting opponents who move at superhuman speeds, giving him reaction times that Thorkell has never had to deal with. While Thorkell relies on powerful swings and overwhelming pressure, Yamcha could easily stay outside his reach and attack from safer positions.
Thorkell has no reliable way to attack enemies in the air, while Yamcha can continuously launch Ki blasts without placing himself in danger. Even if Thorkell survives the first few attacks thanks to his incredible toughness, the constant pressure would gradually wear him down.
Yamcha’s martial arts training provides another important advantage. Rather than relying on raw power alone, he combines speed, technique, and energy attacks into a balanced fighting style. His Wolf Fang Fist allows him to strike repeatedly before opponents have time to recover, making it difficult for slower fighters to respond effectively.
Thorkell’s greatest strength has always been close combat, but reaching Yamcha would be extremely difficult. Every attempt to close the distance would expose him to more Ki attacks and rapid combinations.
4. Floch Forster
Floch Forster is a determined and ruthless fighter who becomes one of the most dangerous human antagonists in Attack on Titan. He is willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish his goals and has no hesitation when using firearms or military tactics against his enemies. Within his own world, those qualities make him a serious threat because most battles are fought between ordinary humans using conventional weapons.

Dragon Ball fighters possess physical abilities that place them far beyond normal human limits. Yamcha has repeatedly demonstrated speed that allows him to avoid incoming attacks, close long distances within moments, and overwhelm opponents before they have time to react. A rifle or other standard weapon would not be enough to stop him.
Yamcha has spent years fighting martial artists, alien warriors, and monsters with destructive abilities that far exceed anything found in Floch’s world. Because of that experience, Yamcha is accustomed to reading his opponents, adapting during battle, and taking control of the fight very quickly.
Once Yamcha begins using techniques like the Spirit Ball or Kamehameha, Floch has no realistic way to block or survive the assault. Even if he attempted to keep his distance, Yamcha’s ability to fly would remove any safe position on the battlefield.
While Floch is a capable soldier with strong leadership skills, those strengths matter far more in large military conflicts than in a direct one-on-one fight. Without allies, specialized equipment, or a prepared strategy, he simply cannot match Yamcha’s speed, strength, or versatility.
5. Kyogai
By striking the drums attached to his body, Kyogai can rotate rooms, change directions instantly, and confuse his opponents. Most Demon Slayers struggle because they lose their balance, become disoriented, and leave themselves open to surprise attacks. His Blood Demon Art rewards patience and precision, making him a difficult enemy for swordsmen who rely on reading their surroundings.

Yamcha would approach this fight very differently. Years of martial arts training and countless battles against powerful opponents have taught him to react quickly even when the situation changes unexpectedly. He has also fought enemies with unusual abilities before, so adapting to an unpredictable environment would not be unfamiliar. Yamcha’s fighting style is not limited to close-range combat. If the battlefield becomes difficult to navigate, he can simply create distance and attack with Ki blasts.
Another major advantage is Yamcha’s mobility. He can fly, giving him freedom that Kyogai cannot easily counter. Even if the rooms continue rotating, Yamcha’s speed allows him to reposition almost instantly. Kyogai’s attacks depend on trapping his opponent inside his controlled space, but Yamcha has enough agility to avoid becoming an easy target.
The difference in destructive power is also significant. Kyogai’s attacks are deadly within the world of Demon Slayer, yet they are designed for opponents with human-level durability. Yamcha has survived battles against enemies capable of far greater destruction. His physical strength and endurance are on an entirely different level, allowing him to withstand attacks that would seriously injure ordinary fighters.
Once Yamcha identifies how Kyogai’s ability works, the battle becomes much simpler. A few well-placed Ki attacks could destroy the demon before he has time to maintain control of the battlefield.
6. Moonfish
Moonfish has a frightening Quirk that allows his teeth to grow into long, razor-sharp blades capable of slicing through obstacles with ease. His attacks are unpredictable, fast, and especially dangerous in confined spaces where opponents have little room to dodge. Against heroes who underestimate him, Moonfish can quickly turn the fight in his favor through relentless pressure and surprise attacks.

Those strengths become far less effective against someone like Yamcha. Dragon Ball fighters routinely deal with opponents who move at incredible speeds and attack with far greater force than Moonfish can generate. Yamcha’s reflexes would allow him to react long before the extending blades reached him. Instead of being forced into close combat, he could simply create distance and rely on Ki attacks to control the fight.
Yamcha has trained alongside some of the strongest fighters in Dragon Ball and understands how to read an opponent’s movements during battle. Once he recognizes the pattern behind Moonfish’s attacks, avoiding them becomes much easier. His speed would let him move around the battlefield freely while looking for an opening.
Moonfish’s offensive ability is impressive, but his defensive capabilities are much more limited. Yamcha has enough striking power to end the fight with a direct hit. Whether using Wolf Fang Fist or a concentrated Ki blast, he possesses the raw force needed to overwhelm Moonfish before the villain can launch repeated attacks.
Moonfish is at his most dangerous when his opponent hesitates or fails to understand his Quirk. Yamcha is unlikely to make either mistake. His combination of speed, flight, ranged offense, and experience allows him to dictate the pace from the beginning.
7. Grand Fisher
Grand Fisher from Bleach is a Hollow who prefers deception over direct confrontation. His signature ability allows him to lure victims by creating convincing illusions, giving him opportunities to attack before his target realizes the danger. This strategy has proven effective against emotionally vulnerable opponents who hesitate after seeing familiar faces. Once the surprise is gone, however, Grand Fisher must rely on his physical strength and Hollow abilities to finish the battle.

Those tactics are unlikely to work against Yamcha. Since Yamcha has no emotional connection for Grand Fisher to exploit, the illusion loses much of its value. Without a successful distraction, Grand Fisher is forced into a straightforward fight where raw power and combat ability become the deciding factors.
Yamcha has several advantages that immediately shift the battle in his favor. His speed far exceeds anything Grand Fisher has demonstrated, allowing him to avoid close-range attacks with ease. Flight also gives Yamcha complete freedom to attack from different angles while staying outside the Hollow’s reach. Grand Fisher has very limited ways to deal with an opponent who refuses to remain on the ground.
Ki attacks present another major problem for the Hollow. Yamcha can unleash powerful energy blasts capable of causing massive destruction from a safe distance. Grand Fisher has never shown the durability required to survive repeated attacks of that magnitude. Even if he manages to withstand the first strike, Yamcha can continue applying pressure until the fight is over.
Grand Fisher is dangerous against opponents who fall for his deception, but Yamcha’s superior speed, experience, and ranged abilities remove that advantage almost immediately. Once the battle becomes a direct contest of strength and skill, the difference between the two fighters is clear. Yamcha would control the fight from start to finish and defeat Grand Fisher without facing serious difficulty.
8. Cheetu
Cheetu relies on quick movements, surprise attacks, and overwhelming opponents before they have a chance to react. Against most enemies, that strategy works extremely well because few fighters can keep up with his pace. His confidence also comes from knowing that speed alone is often enough to control a battle.

Throughout Dragon Ball, Yamcha has fought alongside warriors capable of moving faster than the eye can follow. His own reaction speed improved dramatically after years of martial arts training and battles against increasingly powerful enemies. Matching fast opponents is something he has done throughout his career, so Cheetu would not enjoy the same advantage he normally has.
Cheetu often depends on natural talent and raw speed rather than careful planning. Yamcha has spent years refining his techniques under skilled masters while facing opponents with a wide variety of abilities. That experience allows him to stay calm under pressure and quickly identify weaknesses during combat.
Even if Cheetu avoids the first few punches, he still has to deal with Ki blasts that can cover large areas and force him to keep moving. Fighting an opponent who can attack both from close range and from a distance makes Cheetu’s job much harder.
Cheetu has never shown the durability needed to survive repeated attacks from someone with Yamcha’s level of power. Once Yamcha lands a clean hit with Wolf Fang Fist or a concentrated Ki blast, the fight would likely end quickly.
9. Eso
Eso is a dangerous cursed spirit user whose attacks revolve around manipulating poisonous blood. His techniques allow him to create deadly projectiles and close-range attacks that become even more dangerous if they successfully infect his target. His willingness to fight alongside Kechizu also makes him more effective in team battles than in solo encounters.

Yamcha’s speed allows him to avoid incoming attacks before they reach him, making it difficult for Eso to land the poison needed to gain an advantage. Since Yamcha can fly freely, he is not limited to ground combat. He can attack from above, reposition instantly, and force Eso to constantly defend himself instead of setting up offensive combinations.
Yamcha’s Ki attacks possess enough force to overwhelm opponents long before they have a chance to close the distance. Whether he chooses rapid energy blasts or stronger finishing techniques, Eso has no proven defense against attacks of that scale. His cursed techniques are impressive within the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, but they do not compare to the destructive abilities regularly seen in Dragon Ball.
10. Mosquito Girl
Mosquito Girl from One Punch Man is a powerful monster who becomes much stronger by absorbing blood through the massive swarms of mosquitoes under her control. She can overwhelm ordinary heroes by attacking from multiple directions at once while constantly increasing her own strength.

Despite those abilities, Yamcha has the perfect tools to counter her fighting style. His Ki attacks can clear large groups of enemies at once, making the mosquito swarm far less effective than it would be against most opponents. Instead of being surrounded or slowly drained of blood, Yamcha could destroy the insects before they become a serious threat.
Dragon Ball fighters routinely react to attacks moving at incredible speeds, and Yamcha has trained alongside some of the strongest martial artists in the series. Mosquito Girl is fast within her own universe, but she has never demonstrated movement that matches the level Yamcha has faced throughout his career.
Mosquito Girl can survive attacks from lower-ranked heroes, but Yamcha’s punches and Ki blasts are significantly more destructive. A direct hit would likely inflict serious damage before she has enough time to regenerate or gather additional blood from her surroundings.
The longer the battle continues, the worse the situation becomes for Mosquito Girl. Every failed attack gives Yamcha another opportunity to counter with superior strength and ranged techniques. While Mosquito Girl is a dangerous opponent for many heroes, she lacks the raw power and durability needed to defeat an experienced Dragon Ball fighter.
11. Frank Archer
Frank Archer’s mechanical upgrades increase his physical strength and durability, allowing him to absorb punishment that would stop an ordinary human. Combined with his ruthless mindset, Archer becomes a dangerous opponent for enemies who rely on conventional combat methods.

Yamcha, however, has spent years battling opponents far beyond the level of enhanced humans. His martial arts training allows him to move with incredible speed while avoiding heavy attacks with ease. Archer’s weapons may be powerful against soldiers or armored vehicles, but they are far less effective against someone capable of reacting at superhuman speeds.
Another major advantage for Yamcha is his ability to fight at multiple ranges. Archer depends heavily on direct firepower and close-range durability, while Yamcha can switch between hand-to-hand combat and long-range Ki attacks whenever necessary. This flexibility prevents Archer from forcing the battle into the type of fight that favors him.
Even Archer’s cybernetic body would struggle against Yamcha’s destructive techniques. Repeated Ki blasts could damage mechanical components, reducing Archer’s effectiveness as the fight progresses. Since Archer has no reliable defense against energy attacks, he would eventually be overwhelmed by Yamcha’s continuous offense.
Combat experience also plays a significant role. Yamcha has faced alien warriors, powerful martial artists, and monsters with abilities far beyond advanced technology. Those battles taught him how to stay composed under pressure and quickly exploit an opponent’s weaknesses. Archer’s military background is impressive, but it cannot compensate for the enormous difference in physical ability.
12. Jin-e Udo
Jin-e Udo’s greatest weapon is his ability to break an opponent’s focus before delivering a fatal strike. Against ordinary swordsmen, this approach is extremely effective because even a brief moment of hesitation can decide the outcome of a duel. His calm personality and experience make him a dangerous fighter despite lacking supernatural powers.

Throughout his time in Dragon Ball, Yamcha has fought enemies with unpredictable fighting styles, overwhelming strength, and unusual abilities. Those battles sharpened his instincts and taught him how to remain focused under pressure. Instead of relying only on visual cues, Yamcha reacts through years of martial arts training and combat experience.
The physical gap between the two fighters is also impossible to ignore. Yamcha possesses superhuman speed, strength, and durability that far exceed anything Jin-e has demonstrated. Even if Jin-e attempted to create an opening with psychological tricks, he would still need to land a decisive attack against someone capable of moving faster than most human opponents could even perceive.
Yamacha is not limited to close-range combat and can pressure Jin-e with energy attacks from a safe distance. That forces Jin-e to defend himself rather than control the pace of the battle. Once Yamcha begins mixing martial arts with ranged techniques, Jin-e quickly runs out of options.
Jin-e’s intelligence and discipline would prevent him from making careless mistakes, but skill alone cannot overcome such a massive difference in physical ability. Yamcha’s speed, versatility, and destructive power allow him to dominate every stage of the fight.
13. Squalo and Tiziano
Squalo and Tiziano are dangerous because they work together. They rely on unusual Stand abilities rather than direct combat. Their powers are designed to confuse, trap, and manipulate opponents before they realize what is happening.

Yamcha’s approach to combat makes their strategy much less effective. Rather than waiting for an opponent to dictate the fight, Yamcha prefers fast and aggressive attacks that overwhelm enemies from the very beginning. His speed allows him to close distances almost instantly, reducing the amount of time Squalo and Tiziano have to execute their plans.
Dragon Ball fighters routinely unleash attacks capable of causing enormous destruction, and Yamcha is no exception. Powerful Ki blasts can destroy obstacles, create large explosions, and force opponents onto the defensive. If Squalo and Tiziano attempt to rely on complicated setups, Yamcha can simply destroy the surrounding area before their strategy fully develops.
The duo also struggles in direct physical confrontations. Once their special abilities lose momentum, they are left facing an experienced martial artist with years of training against increasingly dangerous opponents. Yamcha has battled enemies far stronger and faster than either of them, giving him the confidence to adapt even if the fight begins in unfamiliar circumstances.
14. Naki
Naki from Tokyo Ghoul is an aggressive ghoul who prefers overwhelming opponents with relentless attacks instead of carefully planned strategies. His Kagune gives him impressive offensive power, and his fearless nature allows him to keep charging forward even after taking damage. Against less experienced fighters, that relentless aggression can quickly become overwhelming.

Many of Yamcha’s opponents relied on brute force or reckless attacks, forcing him to develop excellent timing and counterattacking skills. Instead of meeting Naki’s aggression head-on, Yamcha would likely use his superior speed to dodge incoming attacks and strike when openings appear.
Although Naki is much stronger than an average human, his strength does not compare to a Dragon Ball fighter who has trained alongside the Z Fighters. Yamcha’s punches, kicks, and Ki attacks possess far greater destructive power than anything Naki has shown. A direct hit from Wolf Fang Fist could end the fight before Naki has time to recover.
Yamcha also has the advantage of fighting at multiple ranges. While Naki depends heavily on close combat, Yamcha can attack from a distance with Ki blasts whenever necessary. That flexibility prevents Naki from forcing the battle into the type of confrontation that favors him.
15. Rades Spirito
Rades Spirito specializes in controlling undead puppets, allowing him to overwhelm opponents through numbers instead of direct combat. His magic becomes increasingly dangerous as more corpses join the battlefield, forcing enemies to divide their attention between multiple attackers. Against fighters who struggle with crowd control, this ability can quickly become overwhelming.

Yamcha is well equipped to deal with large groups of enemies. His Ki attacks can strike multiple targets at once, making it difficult for Rades to maintain pressure through sheer numbers. Rather than defeating each puppet individually, Yamcha can eliminate several with a single well-placed energy blast, reducing the effectiveness of Rades’ strategy almost immediately.
Mobility gives Yamcha another major advantage. Since he can fly, he is free to attack from different angles while avoiding being surrounded. This prevents the puppet army from trapping him and forces Rades to constantly adjust his tactics instead of maintaining control of the battlefield.
The biggest weakness in Rades’ fighting style is that everything depends on him remaining active. Once Yamcha identifies the real controller behind the puppet army, he can ignore the distractions and focus entirely on defeating Rades himself.
