The reincarnation manga and anime have garnered great popularity and created a crazy fanbase in recent times. To the point, that “reincarnation” can be established as a genre itself. “The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World” or “Is Seika Lamprogue, the demon king” is one of the new installments in the genre.
The series started as a light novel series written by Kiichi Kosuzu and illustrated by Shiso and Kihiro Yuzuki. Kosuzu started the light novel in December 2018 and published them on the novel site Shōsetsuka ni Narō. Some of the later volumes were published by Futabsha, as they acquired the series in 2019.
The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World was republished under a new illustrator, Yunnagi, in 2022. A manga adaption was released by Futabasha production in 2020. It was digitalized by Toshinori Okazaki.
The anime version was produced under the banner of Blanc Studio and was directed by Ryosuke Shibuya. It was released on January 7, 2023, and a total of 12 episodes have been broadcasted as of now.
The manga has sold over one million copies, and several prints are being added every day. Talking about the anime version, it has too received positive feedback from fans and is also considered one of the best winter anime series.

The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World Storyline
Haruyoshi Kugano is an exorcist in a fictional magical world. His greed for power and being an exceptional diviner made him an eyesore for people in his surrounding, including his friends.
He is betrayed by his companions and on the verge of death. He wishes for a normal life in his next carnation. He then attempts a risky secret reincarnation spell as his last resort to save his life.
Haruyoshi’s spell succeeds, and he is reincarnated in the body of a boy named Seika Lamprogue into another world. This world has a connection to magic, and Seika comes from a lineage of a great and distinguished wizard family. However, Seika has no affinity for magic and is judged to have no magical ability.
Haruyoshi soon notices that this world’s magic is nothing compared to his previous abilities and decides to live a peaceful life with his present abilities. The story proceeds with his enrolment into a magic school and his daily life as a student, and the adventures that follow.
1. The light novel series had constant changes in the illustrators
Kosuzu started publishing the series as a light novel with his initial illustrator being Shiso, but a less known Is Seika Lamprogue; the demon king fact is that the series saw frequent changes in illustrators.
The first volume of the series was illustrated by Shiso, and for the second volume, Kihiro Yuzuki was hired. As the series was handed over to Futabasha, a new illustrator, Yuunagi, was appointed to republish the series in 2022.
2. Seika can manipulate six elements
Although being born with next to zero magic abilities, Seika has his memory retained from his previous life. Being a supreme exorcist in his past life, he uses talismans to overcome the lack of magic.
Seika uses his knowledge and techniques from his former life to use talismans, and these talismans can help him to manipulate all six elements: water, earth, fire, air, light, and shadow. He is also adapted to other spells and techniques that are different from this world’s mystics.
3. Kugano’s disciple
Haruyoshi’s greed for power and his craze for becoming the strongest made him a power-crazed maniac. He liked to cut himself from the world and research a variety of spells that could make him powerful.
Despite this crazed side of his, he had a gentle side too. He took an orphan as a disciple and taught him the ways of an exorcist. However, the disciple colluded with other exorcists of the Imperial Court and betrayed Haruyoshi, resulting in his death.
4. Seika’s abilities and skills
Being the protagonist of the story, Seika has to have some of the most overpowered abilities in the world. He acquires the abilities such as using talismans and summoning Ayakashis. Some of his other abilities are applying and removing seals and wielding Shinigami.
His stats, as shown in the series, are:

- Agility: 347
- Magic: 0
The skills he has at his disposal are:
Sword Art Anti Magic, Magic, Barrier Art, Strength Enhancement, Curse Resistance, Immortal Vision, Dragon Vein Vision. The most interesting Is Seika Lamprogue. The demon king fact is that almost all of these skills are at max level. So, it is not false to say that Seika Lamprouge is almost invincible.

5. Yuki is non-threatening
Haruyoshi could summon Ayakashis before he died and got reincarnated. To test if he has the summoning powers in the new world, too, he summoned an Ayakashi. Yuki was the first Ayakashi and her master summoned to the new world.
Yuki is loyal to Seika and has been with him in his past life too. She is also the most non-threatening Ayakashi at Seika’s disposal. She takes up the form of a small fox and usually hides in Seika’s hair and also advises him at crucial moments.
6. Efa as Seika’s companion
Efa is the family servant of the Lamprouge family. When Seika decides to leave for Lodonea, the magic school, he asks the family head to let Efa be his companion in the school. Being the companion of a noble family’s son, she is quite adaptable to noble etiquette.
Among the accessories and clothes, she wears pepper black Mary Jane shoes.
7. Efa is a wolf descendant
Efa has a knack for magic, as she can command spirits. Seika discovers her abilities, and he trains her in secret. As a servant, it was not viable for her to learn magic, so Seika took her with him to Lodonea.
In the series, it is later revealed that Efa’s ability to use spirit magic can be linked to her being a half-breed. She is half-human and half-elf.

8. Mabel Crane was a spy
During the combat tournament in the Capital City, Mabel Crane was one of the winning candidates and could have won if not because of Seika. Mabel’s role in participating in the tournament was to let Kyle, her brother, kill her and prove Kyle’s value to the demons.
Mable dyed her red from silver to resemble Amyu, so she could take up the position of Hero instead of Amyu. Although Sieka later convinced her to join the academy as a student.
9. Grey became a changed man
Seika’s older brother, Grey, used to bully Seika and Efa because Seika was said to be born from one of the mistresses and not the actual wife of Blaise Lamprogue. Initially, Grey was the one to be sent to Lodonea and not Seika. So, when Seika is chosen to leave for Lodonoea, Grey challenges Seika but is easily defeated.
Grey was sent to enlist in the army, and later in the series, he loses his cruelty and is a changed man.
10. Efa was offered to become part of King’s harem
On her way to investigate Astelia’s kingdom’s dragon guardian, Efa is offered to be a part of the kingdom’s harem. Astelia’s prince Cecilio is charmed by her beauty and wants her to be one of his harems. However, Efa has feeling for Seika, and she denies Cecilio’s offer
11. Amyu and Haruyoshi’s disciple
Amyu is the counterpart protagonist of the story and comes from a common lineage. She is one of the strongest students in the academy and can manipulate four elements. The instructors at the academy suspect her of being the next Hero candidate.
Amyu resembles Haruyoshi’s disciple in his previous life as Amyu’s appearance is similar to hers.
