The girl who wanted to become a fortune teller has now turned into an errand girl. Yohane The Parhelion-Sunshine in The Mirror is a new anime released in 2023, and it focuses on the story of a 14-year-old girl named Yohane. Yohane always has big dreams, so she decided to move to a big city at the age of 12 and become successful, but destiny was never in her favor. Yohane failed several auditions and interviews and was left broke, forcing her to ask for her mother’s help.
Yohane’s mother refused to help her as she wanted her to become successful on her own. Yohane’s mother then calls her back to her hometown as she is going to leave the village for a tour. Yohane, despite being angry, decides to follow along with her demands, but she gets bored living in the small village. This boredom leads Yohane to open a fortune teller shop so that she can make money, and that’s how she starts the comedy-filled story of Yohane The Parhelion!

Yohane prepares herself to become a fortune teller by using a cape her father gifted her when she was a child and also a crystal ball. After setting things up, Yohane goes out with Lailaps to stick pamphlets for her fortune-telling shop.
After a while, Yohane returns to her shop and waits for customers to show up, but sadly no one arrives even after hours of opening. Suddenly the bell rings, and Yohane rushes towards the door with her iconic Yohane pose. To her disappointment, Yohane finds that it’s just 3 kids who want her to find their lost ball.
Yohane tells her that she is a fortune teller and asks them to go away if they can’t pay her. Yohane goes inside and starts crying while hugging Lailaps as she wonders what will happen to her fortune-telling shop at this rate. The bell rings once again, and Yohane gets filled with excitement. She rushes to the door and finds Hanamaru standing outside; Yohane feels a bit embarrassed to talk to her in her fortune-teller outfit.
Hanamaru asks Yohane how her shop is going, and Yohane says that she has been very busy even though she was just sitting around the whole time. Yohane then says that it’s time for her to close the shop as she wants to get away from Hanamaru, but Hanamaru says that it’s perfect because now she can take Yohane to meet all the working people of the town. Yohane asks Lailaps to come with her, but Lailaps goes to sleep instead.
Hanamaru takes Yohane to Tochiman Inn to meet Chika and her family. There Yohane sees how busy they all are and how well they work, which makes her a bit uneasy as she’s nothing compared to them.
After staying at the inn for some time and interacting with everyone there, Hanamaru and Yohane go out to meet the town’s chief, Dia. Dia immediately recognizes Yohane and says that she remembers everyone who has lived in this town because she’s chief.
Hanamaru and Yohane stay in her office for some time to observe how she works. Yohane feels tired just by looking at the hard work of Dia.
Hanamaru then takes Yohane to her shop, and they stay there till Hanamaru closes. Hanamaru then shows her earnings to Yohane, but Yohane says that it’s a small amount which makes Hanamaru a bit sad, and she walks away after saying farewell.
Yohane returns to her house with a glum face, but she brightens up when a scholar arrives at her doorstep as her first customer. Yohane tries to predict things about the scholar to convince her about her skills, but she fails every single time.
The scholar takes a liking to Lailaps as she believes that Lailaps is a mystical creature. She asks Yohane to sell Lailaps to her, but she refuses as Lailaps is a part of her family. The scholar leaves, and the 3 kids from earlier come back again with some money. The money is still insufficient, but Yohane decides to help them as they advertise her shop.
Soon enough, Yohan starts doing errands for townspeople and makes a good amount of money. She also makes things right with Hanamaru and returns home happily.
