Chris Coelen’s infamous Netflix series, Love Is Blind, has returned for another season this week. With new singles geared up to find their possible soulmates, the show will start with its iconic pod moments and then move to more realistic parts of life as the episodes air.
First seen on television on February 13, 2020, the dating show became a huge hit after a few episodes as it aired right before COVID lockdowns began. Since almost everyone was stuck at home looking for entertainment, Love Is Blind brought in the perfect drama and romance, which resonated with many due to the widespread long-distance relationship factor.
Presenters for the show are Nick & Vanessa Lachey, and as soon as the show begins, they’ll introduce the new Seattle singles to us. Once the singles are ready to meet others, they are sent to pods, small rooms connected by an opaque wall. Singles can converse through the walls but won’t see who they’re talking to. After choosing their partner, they are made to live with each other in real life and see if things work out.
If things go well, the couples get married on Love Is Blind show, but if they decide to end the relationships, the couples are dropped from the series. The concept behind the show is to see if romantic feelings can develop just based on a person’s personality, voice, and life. Appearances are completely cut off from the experiment.
The audience of Love is Bind has grown throughout the years, but as entertaining as the relationships are, many viewers view the love seen on the show as toxic. Scientists who usually analyze such social behaviors have suggested the show be taken lightly and not as a real experiment as none of the activities seen on the show are conducted by experts.
Regardless, Love is Blind continues to be one of the best dating series on Netflix and has had several other countries like Brazil adopt its format for their versions. The show can only be explained as a rollercoaster ride of raw emotions and romance. The latest season has been airing since March 24, 2023.
Love Is Blind Season 4: The Dating Show’s Format
As all seasons start, the contestants or singles selected through auditions will be sent to their pods. These singles are men and women who have found it hard to form a solid relationships for various reasons. They show up on Love Is Blind hoping that someone would love them for who they are.
After talking about their lives, interests, families, and everything else, the singles will decide whether or not they’d like to propose to someone. Only at the time of engagement will they be able to see each other for the first time. After the proposals, they’ll be sent along with other couples on vacation. The lovely vacation is followed by living together under the same roof.
This is where reality kicks in for most couples, and they find out whether they are compatible. They will marry by the season’s end if the relationship works out. We also see updates at times to check how married couples are doing.
