Created by Tyler Perry, The Oval has been one of the most intense shows on BET, mainly owing to its portrayal of what lives are like inside the pristine fictional White House. Revolving around the lives of Hunter and Victoria Franklin, who are appointed as President and First Lady of America, the show is a dark drama and deceit-filled illustration of what would normally be considered a dream life.
The show first premiered on October 23rd, 2019. Its success led to the introduction of a spin-off titled Ruthless just before the lockdown was initiated worldwide. Though the show has received mixed reviews, it has gained almost 1 million views on Season 4’s premiere.
Season 4 came out on October 11th, 2022. It began with the dramatic death of Jason, Hunter, and Victoria’s son. Though his son was seemingly dead, Hunter didn’t care and continued to indulge in his desires, much to Victoria’s annoyance. With the Vice President vowing to take down the First family, The Oval will see a shift in the storyline.
