Long gone are Yoon Dan Oh’s comfortable days of lavish living in her previously well-off noble household, and she became the sole breadwinner of the family, making ends meet by running the Ihwawon Inn. It is the season of the civil service entrance examination, and young examinee scholars, who are due to give the difficult exam to earn a position as a high official in the court, are patronaging the Inn.
The three men- Kang San, Kim Si Yeol, and Jeong Yoo Ha, harbor great secrets. They are joining with Yoon Dan Oh to solve a cold mystery of a missing Lee Seol.
The plot in The Secret Romantic Guesthouse has displayed a gripping gravity in the latest episodes as the secrecy increases and the puzzle complicates, with the suspicions of the three scholars being the prince.
The young scholars who hide various secrets grow closer to Yoon Da Oh. Yoo Ah learns a shocking truth about the head courtesan, Hwa Ryeong being his birth father’s lover, a well-kept secret, when the latter saves him from the soldiers of the palace.
Yoon Dan Oh discovers her childhood keepsake- a compass that matches perfectly with the dragon emblem on the unidentifiable box. Dan Oh realizes Lee Seol’s identity as the young crown prince she met in her childhood. She is kidnapped and questioned by Tan Hwa, confessing to keeping Lee Seol hidden in her house to protect him from the soldiers chasing after him. Yoo Ha arrives to pay for Dan Oh’s freedom even if Dan Oh is kept on a tight leash.
The injured San still performs exceptionally well on the exam the next day, earning the king’s recognition, who also rewards him with a wish to become the top scholar. Kang San reveals himself as the crown prince Lee Seol to Dan Oh.
