Frieren at the Funeral, also known as ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ is a shounen manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. This manga started serializing in the year 2020 and is currently published by Shounen Sunday.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is not your typical adventure manga because instead of the story of defeating the Demon king like some other titles, this story starts after the group of four heroes has defeated the demon king in their decade-long adventure.
The four heroes were mage Frieren, hero Himmel, priest Heiter, and warrior Eisen. After defeating the demon king, they go back on their paths and bid farewell to their decade-long friendship. However, elves have a long lifespan, so a span of a decade or even a century is not very long for them.
This means that Frieren had to see all of her hero friends pass away one by one. Before Heiter passed away, he gave Frieren the responsibility of looking after the human apprentice he left behind named Fern.
Frieren has an obsession with collecting magic spells so she and Fern are set on a journey to revisit all the old places that the heroes had once visited. Without any particular aim, Frieren admits her regret of not taking opportunities to deepen the bond between her and her old teammates.

Frieren at the Funeral Chapter 109: Recap
Before talking about the upcoming chapter let us have a little recap of the happenings in the previous chapter of the series, Chapter 109. This chapter was released on March 28 2023 and is titled ‘The Remnant Zart’.
The chapter starts moments after Zart tosses Frieren high up in the air, While Himmel, Heiter and Eisen are on the ground trying to fight off Zart. Zart tries to negotiate with them by telling them to surrender and it’s when a huge fire blast comes from the sky and Frieren shot it with utmost accuracy even while falling.
Trying not to reveal too much of the future magic Frieren safely lands on the ground and joins the other three heroes in the coordinated attack. It’s when with the help of Frieren Himmel and Eisen was able to land a critical hit on Zart.
Zart was pushed to a corner but then he uses his ability of spatial transference magic by touching a cliff and making a huge chunk of land float high above in the air. The heroes are oddly calm about the situation as they firmly believe Frieren is hiding some strong magic spell to get them out of this dire situation.
Frieren tells them to not speak about the magic they are going to see and take that secret to the grave as she was gonna use one of the future magic spells. In an instant, she was able to destroy the whole floating piece of land and put a stop to Zart but before killing Zart, Zart figured out that she was from the future and on this note, the chapter comes to an end.
