Yoshitoshi Shinomiya is an artist and director, is working on a brand-new anime movie called A New Dawn.
It’s set to hit theaters in Japan in 2025. This film is a collaboration between ASMIK Ace and the French studio Miyu Productions, known for their work on Ghost Cat Anzu.
Shinomiya’s debut feature film focuses on a fireworks factory that’s been around for 330 years and is facing eviction.
The movie follows the lives of three young individuals who grew up near the factory. It unfolds over two days, capturing the essence of the mysterious fireworks store called Shuhari.
Utsushita is known for Heavenly Delusion, is in charge of designing the characters. Akiko Majima, from Suzume, is contributing as an artist. Shuta Hasunuma is creating the music.
Shinomiya will present the film at the Annecy International Film Festival’s Animation Day on May 19. There will be an animation showcase where Shinomiya will introduce the work, along with a behind the scenes video.
Shinomiya has a rich background in the anime industry. He created poster art for Makoto Shinkai’s The Garden of Words and contributed background drawings for that movie, as well as for Your Name and Children Who Chase Lost Voices.
He also worked on background art for Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin and Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works.
In addition, Shinomiya served as a unit director on Your Name and directed its flashback sequence. He even provided artwork for Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle.
Notably, Shinomiya led a collaborative effort that produced a short anime detailing the history of Shibuya Crossing in 2018.
