Nintendo has revealed its latest weekly Nintendo Download, headlined by the launch of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition alongside a packed lineup of new eShop releases, pre-orders, Nintendo Music additions, and limited-time activities. The enhanced RPG arrives with technical upgrades designed specifically for Nintendo Switch 2, giving returning players and newcomers a reason to revisit one of the platform’s most celebrated adventures.
Originally released on Nintendo Switch in 2017, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 follows Rex and the legendary Blade Pyra as they journey across the world of Alrest in search of the mythical paradise known as Elysium. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition modernizes that experience with improved visuals and performance while introducing brand-new gameplay content. Nintendo also confirmed that players who already own the original Nintendo Switch version can purchase an upgrade pack through the Nintendo eShop.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 returns with enhanced visuals and new gameplay content
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition features 4K resolution in TV mode, Full HD resolution in handheld mode, and gameplay running at up to 60 frames per second, offering smoother exploration, combat, and cutscenes. In addition to technical improvements, the release includes fresh content, including a new Rare Blade named Momo and an action battle mode called Merc Assault, expanding the experience beyond the original release.
Alongside the RPG’s launch, Nintendo opened pre-orders for EA SPORTS Madden NFL 27, which arrives on August 13 for Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming football title introduces updates to Franchise mode, refined gameplay mechanics, expanded Superstar progression, and Ultimate Team improvements. Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will also receive up to three days of early access and additional in-game bonuses.

Nintendo also expanded its Nintendo Music library with new Mario Kart World Free Roam playlists inspired by games including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, Donkey Kong Country, Luigi’s Mansion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, and Flipnote Studio.
