Following the intriguing and impressive Extreme Rules PPV on Saturday in Philadelphia, WWE Raw on 10 October will air from the Barclays Center in New York. Bray Wyatt’s return to WWE was the biggest thing to result from that show. Wyatt is not currently listed for Raw as of this writing, but it is certainly possible that he could show.
WWE has confirmed that D-Generation X will appear on the upcoming show to honor WWE’s 25th anniversary. The Bloodline will also make a special appearance on the show.
Additionally, on Monday Night RAW, Johnny Gargano will compete against Theory, and Bobby Lashley will defend the US Championship against Seth Rollins. Overall, the WWE’s apex show’s season opener seemed to be an interesting ride.
Here are WWE RAW 10 October Preview:
DX Returns
Is it degenerate behavior to advertise a 2022 appearance using promotional images from 1998? I’ll let you decide that. The D-Generation X Hall of Fame team reunites on Raw to mark 25 years since the group’s creation in 1997. Shawn Michaels, Triple H (then known as Hunter Hearst Helmsley), Chyna, and Rick Rude were the group’s initial members at that time.
Michaels missed WrestleMania 14 in 1998 due to a back injury, so Triple H took over as the group’s leader. X-Pac and The New Age Outlaws who had previously signed with WCW returned to WWE and joined him. In 2019, the team DX was honored by the WWE Hall of Fame. Now fast-forward to the current WWE, where Triple H is a top executive who holds the position of Chief Content Officer, which also signifies he is in charge of the creative teams for Raw and Smackdown.
The WWE’s NXT brand is managed by Shawn Michaels, who also serves as the primary supervisor of the NXT tv show on Tuesday nights. Shawn Michaels is also the Senior VP of Talent Development Creative for WWE. Road Dogg has held a number of positions, including a chief writer for WWE’s Smackdown, and he currently serves as the Vice President Of Live Events, assisting in the organization of live events. Sean “X-Pac” Waltman does not currently hold a firm role, but he is most likely capable of getting one if he so wanted.
DX currently consists of four men in their 50s, three of whom work as executives for WWE, so I’m not sure how “degenerate” they can be. However, for those of us who grew up with them and vividly recall those well-known catchphrases, it should be fun to watch the DX Reunion. I simply hope that no one gets wounded while doing crotch chops.
No Daddy Ass
Bad Ass Billy Gunn, also known as “Daddy Ass” in the AEW these weeks, will be one notable D-X name absent from the celebration. He happens to be the key element of the most famous catchphrase in that business today: “Scissor me, Daddy Ass!”
But it sounds like WWE doesn’t want to deal with Daddy Ass tonight. That kind of filthy sexual innuendo and childish conduct is totally in D-wheelhouse. Undoubtedly one of the silliest things ever written by a wrestling journalist, they will apparently “be ready” for any “Daddy Ass” chants that start.
The WWE audience generally wouldn’t be worried about taking over a show or segment with shouts of “Daddy Ass,” but tonight’s broadcast is coming to us from New York City. I’m interested to see whether these chants catch on while D-X is on tour because the fans there are more likely to have heard of the Daddy Ass and scissoring obsession.
I don’t think Daddy Ass to become an important thing and take over the segment. If it happens, Triple H or Road Dogg will probably be prepared with a smart one-liner to shut it down, and everyone in the ring will then immediately go to beating up a mid-card heel like Chad Gable. But I suppose you won’t truly know until you watch tonight to see how WWE handles the Daddy Ass and scissor craze that is sweeping pro wrestling.
Bloodline On Raw
The six-man team known as The Bloodline will be appearing on Raw tonight, headed by Roman Reigns, the WWE Universal Champion, The Usos, the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, their brother Solo Sikoa, Sami Zayn, the “Honorary Uce”, and Paul Heyman the “Special Counsel”. Although the majority of the team typically only appears on Smackdown, getting The Bloodline on Raw for the Season Premiere is a wise move since it makes the episode special.
On November 5, Roman Reigns will face Logan Paul in the main event of Crown Jewel, so expect The Tribal Chief and his “Wise Man,” Paul Heyman, to address Paul. Although there is no mention of Logan Paul in the advertisements for Raw tonight, he might yet make an appearance. It’s also probable that The Bloodline members will be involved in a match at some point over the three hours of Raw because the group tends to make foes everywhere they go.

Bobby Lashley vs Seth “Freakin” Rollins
In a three-segment, 20-minute match that saw Bobby Lashley retain the United States Title, Seth Rollins narrowly lost his challenge against Lashley for the title on the September 19th episode of Raw. The finish wasn’t really clean because Rollins was caught off guard by his Extreme Rules competitor Matt Riddle and Lashley struck Rollins with a Spear to grab up the win.
Due to the fact that Rollins and Riddle engaged in a physical struggle in the Fight Pit Match that served as the main event of Extreme Rules, Lashley will enter the match with a clean slate. It wouldn’t surprise me if Rollins also criticized Daniel Cormier, the referee for the Fight Pit match, on Raw. I think the cunning Rollins will figure out a way to cheat and take home the victory. Rollins has, in my opinion, been one of the top performers in the WWE this year, if not the best.
Although Rollins has a history of losing matches in Premium Live Events, I believe that awarding him a title like the US Championship would be a wise choice because it would make Rollins more charismatic to be able to boast about holding the title. That has nothing to do with Lashley, whom I admire. Simply put, I believe Rollins has a very good chance of winning the US Title.
Johnny Gargano vs. Austin Theory
On the August 22nd episode of Raw, when Johnny Gargano announced his re-signing with WWE and made his tv debut, he had to put up with Austin Theory boasting about how successful Theory is. This match has been building ever since Gargano attacked Austin with a superkick on that particular night. In the past, Gargano led “The Way” group in NXT and served as Theory’s mentor.
On Raw, they will put Theory’s current belief that he is better off without the assistance of the experienced Gargano to the test. In a tweet, Gargano discussed some of the memorable moments from his WWE career that took place in Brooklyn.
What will Bray Wyatt say upon his return?
As a massive surprise, Bray Wyatt’s return to the WWE marked the end of Extreme Rules. The mystery was finally revealed during the pay-per-view after weeks of receiving cryptic “White Rabbit” sketches and Easter eggs. Before Wyatt himself emerged on stage with his distinctive lantern just before the show ended, a string of individuals in character from his “Firefly Funhouse” segments came into the audience.
Now, barely 48 hours after his major return, the mystery of what Wyatt may do or say tonight remains. Wyatt’s character is usually cloaked in mystery and leaves room for speculation about his motivations and likely first targets.
