Along with some truly epic flops, the redesigned series will include new twists and components that will test competitors’ athleticism, approach, and determination to even greater limits!
Every game consists of three rounds, each of which features an incredible multi-stage obstacle course with lots of strategy and decision-making opportunities to test the competitors’ endurance and produce even more hilarious and unexpected wipeouts!
Of course, the show’s recognizable mainstay—the enormous balls—is making a comeback! Because Nicole Byer and John Cena are known for having a good time, they were the perfect presenters when TBS revived Wipeout in 2021.
Now returning for season 2, the dynamic duo will once again provide their distinct and amusing commentary on the action of the extravagant extreme sports tournament. Camille Kostek will also be making a comeback. She will interview the rivals and provide commentary from the sidelines.
TBS gave us access to this unique blooper clip from the set where Cena, Byer, and Kostek recorded promos ahead of the launch. They were first seen lip-syncing to Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record).” In the video, Byer unintentionally uses a Wipeout flag to strike Cena in the back of the head at one point. “It’s okay,” the WWE legend consoles an apologetic Byer. I frequently take hits to the head.
Apart from the bloopers, fans can anticipate new courses in season 2, which the network says will be “bigger and wetter than ever.” Additionally, they hint at a surprise appearance by a familiar face to Wipeout aficionados.
The Qualifier, Gauntlet, and Wipeout Zone are the three primary courses that only the most skilled athletes (or, to put it more bluntly, those who are courageous enough) use to test their abilities.
To have a chance at winning $25,000, competitors must be prepared to get down and filthy and wet and crazy while racing around the courses, which naturally feature the recognizable large red balls.
Additionally, three new challenges have been added: the “Backboned” moving bridge, the “Face Time with Nicole” heavy hammer, and the “Ding Dong Damage” trap door. One team will take home the championship after every episode.
