The New Orleans Pelicans’ journey of a five-game road trip is ongoing on a successful note, and they are heading forward to go up against the Golden State Warriors while healing. The Warriors are under an air of question about whether their players Zion Williamson and Jose Alvarado will come on the floors to play the game.
Zion Williamson sustained a right quad contusion while he was playing against the Clippers in the Friday game. He had to exit the game before the fourth quarter due to his injury, as the Pelicans wanted to omit any extension of the condition of his injury.
The Pelicans had also been missing their other player, Jose Alvarado, who couldn’t be on the floor due to his illness. The presence of both players still remains questionable.
Are Zion Williamson and Jose Alvarado’s presence going to remain ‘questionable’?
The five-game road trip of the New Orleans Pelicans is going. The New Orleans Pelicans had played against the Sacramento Kings by clinching a win of 33 points, which marked their victory with 133-100. The Willie Green boys are now prepared to play against the Golden State Warriors.
The New Orleans Pelicans were going with an incredible flow of wins by maintaining a four-gain win streak until January 5, when they had to face very rough laws against the Los Angeles Clippers. After winning the game against the Kings, the NOLA are looking forward to making their 23rd win of the season tonight.
Well, this spirit of NOLA can be overlapped by the injury report of Zion Williamson and the illness of Jose Alvarado, which makes their inclusion on the list ‘questionable’ along with Matt Ryan, who will miss another game. The news for tomorrow’s game against the Warriors was posted on the official account of the New Orleans Pelicans on X (formerly Twitter).
When they lost the game to the Clippers, they also had to face a blow as Zion Williamson injured his right quad while 8:24 minutes were left in the third quarter. In order to give their star player a rest, the Pelicans sidelined Zion, and C.J. McCollum got to serve in the absence of the two-time All-Star with a 30-point outburst that brought in a huge win for the team.
Jose Alvarado, who also remains questionable, had to take a setback due to his illness to miss the previous game. Among his last five appearances, Alvardo has been averaging 7.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 steals in 20.0 minutes.
The first game that Alvarado missed was on December 1 due to his illness, and in his absence, Dyson Daniels is likely to receive minutes. There were chances of him earlier being seen in a matchup against the Warriors on Wednesday, but as per the reports posted by NOLA’s X account, his presence will remain questionable, just like Zion Williamson.
Alvarado has registered 13 points, 3 rebounds, two assists, and two steals during his 22 minutes played in Tuesday’s game against the Nets, 112–85. Bringing the Pelicans up to 25 points at halftime. Alvarado and the rest of the bench players had extended playing time, marking the first time that he had registered a double-digit point since December 17 in a blowout win over the Spurs.
Before the setback due to his illness, he played for more than 20 minutes in two straight games. Alvarado had his last victory on Sunday with 146-110 over the Spurs, earning 16 points, three rebounds for assists, and one steal in 22 minutes.
Alvarado wasn’t able to play in Friday’s game against the Spurs, and as per NOLA’s tweet, there are hardly any chances of seeing him on the floor on Saturday against the Bulls.
Still, the fans are holding back on the chances of seeing him in Saturday’s game to provide some backcourt support with CJ McCollum while taking the night of rest. If not, then most likely, Dyson Daniels will be seen forward for the bulk of point guard minutes on Saturday.
