The deciding board of the Academy Awards has finally taken a huge step against Will Smith as he has been banned from the Oscars for 10 years. This shocking news was further confirmed by president David Rubin and CEO Dawn Hudson, who issued an official statement saying that The Board has decided that Mr Smith will not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually.
This ban will be there for a decade and is in effect from April 8, 2022, onwards. Will Smith had earlier resigned from the Academy Awards while explaining in a note why he chose to do so. The slapping incident took social media by storm, and many celebs stood divided on the entire controversy. Recently, Tiffany Haddish came into the actor’s defense, further saying that it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen.

The statement further said that the 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in the community who did incredible work this past year. However, these precious moments were overshadowed by what the board of members described as unacceptable and harmful behavior that Smith exhibited on stage. This is what the official social media page wrote regarding the incident while not making any direct references.
The Academy does not condone violence of any form.
Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.

Just minutes after the slap controversy took place, the 53-year-old actor won the best actor Oscar for his role in King Richard. Sadly enough, the entire controversy took over the 94th Academy Awards. In his acceptance speech, Will Smith has an emotional breakdown while referring to the incident and apologized to the Academy for what happened earlier on stage.
In the speech, however, he did not name Rock or apologize to him. The actor went on to apologize to the Academy and went on to apologize to all his fellow nominees. This is not the first time that Chris Rock has taken a diss at Pinkett-Smith. The comedian also mocked the actress back in his 2016 Oscars monologue when he was a host while referring to Pinkett’s boycott of the ceremony as it was claimed that mostly white actors were nominated for the prestigious award.
