B.E. Jones wrote a book in 2019 called “Wilderness,” and not long after, streaming giant Amazon picked it up to turn it into an adaptation for the small screens. The story is about the lives of a British couple —Will and Liv— who have all the luxuries you can imagine: a posh life in the Big Apple, wealth, youth, and ambition.
However, not everything is as it looks because when Liv finds out that Will is two-timing her with a side chock, the once-idyllic relationship starts to deteriorate. Liv is feeling betrayed, angry, and shocked and wants to hold Will accountable for giving her the horns.
Liv comes up with a plan to tour America’s National Parks with the will to bring the sparks back to their love life, but it is all an elaborate ruse to get back at the man.
As such, the audience embarks with them across beautiful landscapes of America’s geography, all the while Liv plots her revenge. And today, instead of focusing on how Liv gets even- even at Will, we’re shifting gears and taking a look at the Wilderness filming locations.
Wilderness Filming Locations
Wilderness’s main photography took place between April and October 2022 between several locations in Canada’s British Columbia, New York City, Arizona, Las Vegas, and England. So, let’s explore in detail some of these filming locations.
New York City
Liv and Will live a comfortable life in the city that never sleeps, New York City, with many exterior shots of the Big Apple’s skylines, streets, and rooftops. A lot of the dialogue and setting up of the story takes place in that metropolis, more specifically in the Upper West Side, the famous locations like Central Park’s jogging areas and Battery Park.
New York City has been home to countless productions thanks to its appeal, fame, and many iconic locations. It’s in these cities that masterpieces like “The Godfather”, and most of Martin Scorsese’s and Woody Allen’s films take place, and it is and will remain, without a doubt, an iconic filming location.
Las Vegas
From the Big Apple, we move to the city where what happens there, stays there, the bustling metropolis of casinos and entertainment, founded in the desert by mobsters back in their day to launder their money; Las Vegas, Nevada, is a tourist hub, convention center, and playground to everyone with money in their pockets.
It’s been the place where iconic films like “Casino”, Todd Phillips’s “The Hungover,” and even History Channel’s “Pawn Stars” take place. In the series, Liv and Will have a blast at Vegas; meanwhile, Liv is digging deep at how Will is two-timing her.
British Columbia, Canada
To save costs in production, the cast and crew filmed several outdoor scenes, like the ones where we see Cara overlooking a bridge, and those white water rafting ride scenes would make you think that they were shot in the rapids in some location in the United States, but they were actually shot between Vancouver, Squamish and Kananaskis, and Whistler and Banff, in Alberta.

Arizona
Since the movie takes us all over the US as Will and Liv tour the national parks to have a rekindling romance, they stop at Arizona to take a look at the vast, desertic, and beautiful wilderness of that region; it is where the shots in the middle of the road with that convertible take place.
London
Some outdoor scenes and dialogues were shot briefly in London, England, more specifically in East London overlooking the River Thames. And with that, we wrap up the filming locations for this thriller, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Thanks to the magic of editing, cinematography, and professional filming location choosing, we’re led to believe that the story takes place across the US and its national parks, and while several parts of the series took place in the actual USA, others were shot in these locations that offer incentives to filmmakers to reduce costs while not compromising on quality.
