Reason Behind Matt Rhule Getting Fired
During his game tenure with Carolina Panthers, Matt Rhule made an overall record of 11-27. His final record was the loss against the San Francisco 49ers 37-15. He got fired during this third season, but what for? The major reason behind it was his poor record and offensive performance, not just in one game but overall.
The owner of the Carolina Panthers, David Tepper, has also acknowledged the decision of firing Matt after 38 games. He realized that things got a bit messy in the end. Matt was reported to have failed to deliver his best as the head coach. Thus, the results were also not consistent at all. He proved him wrong.
Matt Rhule previously helped in developing Temple and Baylor and even made them win. Knowing that David felt like recruiting him would be the best decision and thing for his team. He thought that Matt would be a successful team builder for Carolina Panthers. In a press conference, David talked about the lack of a winning culture for his team over the last few years.
Matt Rhule isn’t the only one whom the Panthers have fired. Along with him, it also fired the defensive coordinator, Phil Snow. He will be replaced by Al Holcomb.
David Tepper didn’t like the fact that the crowd was screaming “Fire Rhule” because of losing the match against the San Francisco 49ers. He is quite a businessman by heart. It was then that he decided to fire him as he was not doing enough good for the team.
Well, it makes sense. Even though he couldn’t do good for Carolina Panthers, it opened other opportunities. Now, he can find a college job. It was in 2020 when he signed a seven-year contract deal with the Panthers worth $62 million. Now, it owes him $40 million for the remainder of the signed contract.
We wish Matt Rhule nothing but the best for the upcoming days of his career. You may give Matt a following on his Instagram account for more updates. Even though he failed to get over the losing hump, we believe he is going to deliver his best in his next endeavors.
