Why Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Left the Fast and Furious Franchise?
The Rock, who appeared as a Law enforcement agent, Luke, in the Fast and Furious movies and then became part of Dominic’s team of thieves, was admired by all of the fans. Because of Luke’s tough nature from the outside and compassionate demeanor from the inside, he instantly received love from all of the Fast and Furious fans. The Rock announced that he would not be returning for further installments of the film series was unacceptable to fans.
In the year 2016, The Rock expressed his concerns about the cast of Fast and Furious through his Instagram post, which is now deleted. When he was working for the filming of The Fate Of The Furious, during the last week of the filming, he said that it was his final week working as Luke Hobbs for Fast and Furious.
He also mentioned that no franchise other than Fast and Furious boils his blood despite the fact that the franchise has an incredible crew and even universal studios have great partners. Also, he expressed how outstanding his female co-stars were.
However, he had concerns over the male co-stars, who, according to him, did not work like true professionals. He said that some of them are hard-working, while he referred to some as “Candy A*ses.” Dwayne Johnson’s Instagram post heated discussions among fans back in 2016, which also made some assumptions that Dwayne’s post particularly pointed towards Vin Diesel because he said in the post that in some of the scenes of The Fate Of The Fast X, it seems that he is not one of the significant characters of the film.
According to the fans’ theories, since 2011, Vin Diesel has always been the main character of Fast and Furious while Dwayne played a side character. As Dwayne has always been ambitious about his work as an actor, rather than working as a side actor, he decided to look for more opportunities. Additionally, he had a busy schedule as many of the prominent action movie creators required him to be a part of their films, and he also had his own production company. So, because of all these factors, The Rock decided to leave the Fast and Furious franchise.

Fans considered that there were some tensions between both Vin and The Rock, but in the interviews after the incident, both of them downplayed the conflicts between them. Additionally, Vin also made an Instagram post calling The Rock back for Fast and Furious. He called Dwayne his little brother and mentioned that even his children call him ‘Uncle Dwayne.’ Vin Diesel asked Dwayne not to leave the franchise idle because Fast and Furious needed him, and no one else could play Dwayne’s character as best as him.
Even after Vin Diesel’s constant pleas to call The Rock back on the Franchise, Dwayne was firm on his decision, and he did not return for the ninth installment of Fast and Furious. However, surprisingly, it has been confirmed that The Rock will make a cameo during the end credit scene of Fast X. Well, it is not yet confirmed what will happen in the scene and what his role will be, but sources have confirmed his appearance in Fast X.
