Naruto is one of the biggest series in the anime and manga industry and remains one of the top three. However, the Story of the outcast Ninja wasn’t just about him; it was also about his rival and best friend, Sasuke. But Sasuke was nothing but like Naruto, and he had killed many people, one of them being Danzo.
Danzo, for his part, wasn’t something anyone could be a good guy either; he was a man who emphasized the end over the means. It didn’t matter to him what he did to uphold his ideals, and that included getting his hands dirty. However, the man was also a diplomat, and he soon realized that getting things done through authority had much sway.
But how come these two characters are associated with each other? Danzo is one of the more popular characters in the Naruto series, but he is not popular for good reasons. And seeing as he had many atrocities, it was a matter of time before his end came. However, the man also knew how to keep his reputation clean.
What led Sasuke to kill Danzo?
However, that kind of tactic can lead to a person making mistakes in the long run and committing critical mistakes. And on Danzo’s part, it was him and the elders of Hidden Leaf who gave the order to eliminate the Uchiha clan. And the order was taken out by none other than Itachi, the man who sacrificed it all for no gain in life.
The Quest of Sasuke to kill Danzo began when Sasuke had finally completed his lifelong mission of revenge. However, that was just the beginning of his new journey as he came to learn about the truth of Itachi. Itachi hadn’t gone mad and decided to kill his kin one night on a whim, but he was manipulated, too.
And the one who pushed for it the most was Danzo, away from the eyes of Sarutobi (third Hokage). Itachi, being loyal to the authority and having his view on things, decided to go with this decision without a hitch. However, he requested a return to ensure that his little brother was spared from the massacre he was about to make.
The request of his was accepted, and off Itachi goes to become the hated person in Konoha. However, the Sharingan warrior isn’t alone in this as he is aided by none other than everyone’s favorite Obito or Tobi in this case. Obito/Tobi had his motives for going along with this and helping Itachi in his massacre of the Uchiha clan.
Did Sasuke Kill Danzo for only personal reasons?
It was none other than Tobi in the future who told Sasuke of the incidents that took place that night. Thanks to this, Sasuke learned not only the truth about his clan but also the sacrifices his brother had to make. Sasuke’s next target for revenge was none other than Danzo, who had become the new Hokage after Tsunade had to step down.
The fight that led Sasuke to kill Danzo is pretty one-sided, with the young Uchiha winning in the end. Tobi (still not Obito at this point) was there and commenting about how Sasuke was going overboard in this fight. However, he was only there to make sure Sasuke had a way to go back once this was over.
Throughout the fight, we get to see Danzo saying how Sasuke has misinterpreted the intentions of his older brother. Sasuke just wanted to know one thing, and that was whether or not the elder ordered Itachi to massacre the Uchihas. After that, Sasuke didn’t care how overboard he was going against Danzo or the damage to his visions it was causing.
We learn many chapters later that Itachi had a purpose that led him to brand him a traitor. Sasuke finally came to understand the intentions of his brother and took a new vow, one of a protector. This led to him eventually resurrecting Hokage and having a long talk before going to the final battle with Madara. Further leading to one of the best anime fights in the action series.
The fight between Sasuke and Danzo starts in Naruto Shippuden Episode 209. It is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
