Why Did Sam And Colby Go To Jail?
Sam and Colby are well-known for their hilarious pranks and adventures. However, they got too ambitious while creating content in January 2019. Their shooting location was Florida Leon County’s deserted school left for demolition, and they missed the construction sign asking not to trespass.
Sam and Colby jumped off the fence, and a neighbor who watched it informed the police. It is illegal to be present at a demolition or construction site if the owner has strictly refrained people from doing so, as per Florida Statute 810.08.
Thus, Leon County Sheriff’s Office caught the duo on 16 January 2019 and charged them with trespassing charges. They got free the further morning on bail and informed their fans about their safety on Twitter.
Colby got additionally charged with possessing an illegal driver’s license. His bond of $6,000 got paid after a long process. Left with no option, the duo admitted their guilt in custody.
After Getting Out Of Jail
A person on Twitter asked Sam and Colby’s fans not to bother the police as they might remove related anger on the duo in custody. Thus, #FreeSamAndColby got viral on Twitter, and Sam and Colby’s fans wanted to see them free. The duo got criticized for misusing their popularity after breaking the law. It teaches that fans must not support their idols blindly who commit unlawful acts.
Later, the duo shared their experience on YouTube and expressed how shameful they were. They also promised to make the required changes in their upcoming content.
Some viewers took it as a publicity stunt questioning their sincerity. However, Sam and Colby got a loyal fanbase after the incident. They have been to jail only once till now and take precautions to not get in trouble again.
Some fans could not get over the incident and made #FreeSamAndColby viral again on 17 January 2020. Meanwhile, some fans worried and thought that the two guys got arrested again. Their confusion cleared later, but they did not take the hashtag down as it was the first anniversary of Sam and Colby’s arrest.
Cautions With The Videos
Reportedly, Sam and Colby got a team of experts and became more cautious during outdoor shootings. They even edited an entire series for fifty hours. Now, the duo takes about a month with their experts to plan a paranormal trip.
Sam and Colby neither want to make sit-down videos, which they consider stupid, nor get into any legal matter again. They want their videos to get watched like those informative pieces shown on television. The two started their career on Vine and admitted that they often disagree on several things while making videos.
The duo realized the difference between the reel and real life when their online community could not help them escape the situation. Their thirst for adventure landed them in jail. It shows us how laws should be the same for everyone.
