Ruth Madoc whose real name is Margaret Ruth Llewellyn Baker is a British actress. She was born on April 16, 1943 in Norway and her parents traveled their entire life since she was a child. Madoc was raised by her grandmother and grandfather at Llansamlet in Swansea. She was very much interested in drama and acting since her childhood which was the reason she went to the Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London.
Madoc was very hardworking which can be seen through her career itself. After completing her training at the Royal Academy Of Dramatic Art (RADA), she immediately started working in “The Black And White Minstrel Show”. She worked in the show for almost three years after which her real breakthrough in her career came.

Ruth Madoc was a well-known British actress who was known to be a versatile actress as she not only worked in films but also in commercials, television sitcoms, and theatres as well. From the years 1971-1972, Madoc appeared in two film versions of the films ” Fiddler On The Roof” and “Under Milk Wood”.
Madoc played an important role in the movie “The Prince And The Pauper” (1977). She also did the commercials for Cadbury in the year 1971 in which she recorded her sound as the Cadbury alien. Apart from appearing in many sitcoms and theatres Madoc made her special appearance in hit movies like ‘Cinderella’ in the year 2015. She also joined the cast of ‘Calendar Girls The Musical’ in the year 2019. Madoc was also given an award and an honorary degree by Swansea University in the year 2006.
Madoc’s Marriages and Personal Life:
Ruth Madoc was married to her first husband Philip Madoc in the year 1961. He was his co-actor in the television serial “The Life And Times Of David Lloyd George”. Madoc was happy with her first husband, and together they had a son named Rhys and a daughter named Lowri.
The couple was seen to be happy together, but under certain situations, their marriage did not work as expected, and the two ended their marriage with divorce in the year 1981, twenty years after their marriage and being together. Soon after she ended her first marriage with Philip Madoc in 1981, she fell in love with John Jackson in the year 1982, the year after she got divorced from her first husband. John and Madoc together bought a home also in the year 2002 in Glynneath.
John Jackson and Ruth Madoc were seen as a very happy couple from the year they were married in 1982 till the last days of her husband who died in September 2021. Madoc was really heartbroken after this.

As known, Ruth Madoc’s first husband was Philip Madoc, and the couple was married for twenty years from 1961 to 1981 after which they drifted apart. Madoc then met John Jackson in the next year in 1982 and married the same year.
The couple was always seen together and was said to be very much in love. They bought their own house together and were seen out by the media in many places together. Their relationship and happiness together ended with Jackson’s death in the year 2021 which shattered Madoc completely. She couldn’t imagine a life without him and was heartbroken.
What Happened To Ruth Madoc?
Madoc tried to pick herself up from the news of her husband’s death whom she loved so much and tried to move on in her life. She decided to start working back again in the year 2022 and was said to have appeared in the Princess Theatre for the movie of Aladdin.
Madoc, however, fell ill after falling down a week before going to the theatre and had to undergo surgery on December 8, 2022. This was the last day of her life as she faced death the very next day, on December 9, 2022.
Madoc’s death was due to the surgery as the 79-year-old actress could not cope with the surgery which resulted in her death the very next day. It’s sad to see a versatile actress like Madoc pass away so suddenly.
