Morbius was doomed because of the pandemic. All because of frequent release delays time after time. There was always some sort of reason for this, but finally, Morbius has hit the theatres. Still, some of the audience are opting for precautions and would rather give the move a wait until its OTT release. With Morbius being a Sony film, the new deal with Netflix changes the game. Thus, Morbius may be one of the first films to release on Netflix as part of the same.
With that in the mind, here we are taking a quick look at a possible Netflix release date for Morbius. We will analyze what Sony’s deal with Netflix suggests and also look at the release of some past Sony outings on an OTT platform. Morbius Plot
Morbius tells the story of Michael Morbius who suffers from a rare blood disease. Hoping to cure himself as well as his surrogate brother Milo. He was sent by his adoptive father to attend a medical school in New York. It took years until Michael came close to finding a solution. He planned to splice his genes with Costa Rican Bats.
Michael’s Adoptive Father Nicholas and Milo funded him with everything he needed. The experiment worked as well as the cure. But with that cure came some side effects that saw Michael transforming into a Vampire aided with superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and echolocation. Also, a lust for blood that sees him killing people.
Things go further sideways when Michael declines to give the cure to Milo. In turn, Milo just decided to take it away and move on a path where he has started accepting the monster he could become. Now it is up to Michael, to find a way to stop his brother from becoming the monster that may go on a killing spree.
Apart from all of this, Jared Leto has teased the multiverse to be open, so expect some people to come along from another universe. The official trailer of Morbius has featured the existence of Michael Keaton’s Vulture a.k.a. The Vulture from MCU making his presence felt in the universe of Morbius. When & How he came here is something you have to watch in theatres or wait for Morbius to release on Netflix. More or less, we believe this has to do with the mishap that took place in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Morbius Cast
Jared Leto leads the cast of Morbius as Dr. Michael Morbius along with Matt Smith as his surrogate brother Milo Morbius. Joining them are Adria Arjona as Michael’s girlfriend and scientist Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris as Dr. Emil Nicholas, Al Madrigal as Alberto “Al” Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud.

Morbius Netflix Release Date
As of now, we are expecting Morbius to hit Netflix months after its original theatrical run. The strong Sony-Netflix deal everyone is talking about comes into effect here. According to the same, Sony Movies released starting in 2022 may go straightaway to Netflix. Prior to that, mostly Sony movies made their way to STARZ.
So, in most cases, Sony movies take around 150-200 days to come on an OTT platform after their original theatre release. It all depends on the popularity of the film. If we take the example of Sony’s Marvel Movie prior to Morbius. It would Spider-Man: No Way Home & Venom: Let There Be Carnage. The latter one released in the month of October 2021. STARZ has scheduled to bring the movie to its platform on 22 April 2022.
In Morbius’ Case, the Sony-Netflix deal applies that begins from the year 2022. So, much like Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Morbius may appear 5-6 months on an OTT Platform after its original theatrical run but instead of STARZ, now it will be Netflix.
