Adapted from Janette Oke’s book of the same name, the American series When Calls the Heart recently aired its Season 10 Episode 5, so let us tell you all that went down in the episode. The show follows the story of a young elite teacher assigned to work in a school situated in a small town, forced to learn the ways of the townspeople.
Starring actors like Erin Krakow, Daniel Lissing, Lori Loughlin, Chelah Horsdal, Martin Cummins, Jack Wagner, Pascale Hutton, Kavan Smith, and many others, the show has put out ten seasons, most of which have managed to be utterly wholesome and warm to watch.
In the previous fourth episode of the current tenth season of the show, we witnessed the Coulter couple struggle a little with their pregnancy and the child’s arrival, though our kind as-ever nurse, Faith, was right next to them, assuring them that things would turn out fine.
It was also during this episode itself that Rosemary finally gave birth, bringing her and Leland’s child into the world. The episode was full of warmth as it seemed that by the time the delivery of the baby was wrapped up, the entire town’s population had reached the hospital to Rosemary’s emotional support.
With the fifth episode out, let us quickly tell you what followed the baby’s birth.
When Calls The Heart Season 10 Episode 5: Recap & Review
Titled “Life Is But A Dream,” the episode opened with the realization hitting Leland and Rosemary that raising a newborn was not going to be an easy task and might be a different ball game altogether. Nathan got together with his teen daughter, Allie, but it is also creeping up on him that raising a growing teen is also not an easy task.
With Allie growing up and Nathan not knowing how to handle and parent teenage girls, it was hilarious watching Nathan panic over every small thing. He is adorable even while feeling nervous in the woods, which, by the way, was his idea of bonding with his daughter.
He had planned a camping trip for just the two of them, though he seemed to regret his decision of being all alone with Allie in the woods. While these two remained cautious with each other while camping, Henry, back in town, opened up his heart to small kids who surprisingly found a way to his hidden sense of humor.
Elizabeth pushes him to work with the kids some more, so he uses his swift skills to build them things. We saw Angela and her father, Joseph, tag along on Nathan and Allie’s camping expedition, which ended up being a learning lesson for both father-daughter duo.
The episode also saw Lucas reveal the big surprise that he had planned for Elizabeth, though we are not sure if he will get to put it into action anytime soon. The episode also addressed Madeline and Jamie and their plans of moving to settle in Hope Valley.
The episode was as mature and emotional as it could get. We have to address the camping trip that Nathan and Allie took, as it really made us all want to go back to our families to spend some time with them. It is lovely to see how the makers are going about the whole teenage daughter, clueless father trope, extending it further to Angela and Joseph.
The episode surely had wholesome small-town vibes, especially when Elizabeth offered to babysit the Coulter kid without them even asking, knowing that the couple would probably be suffering in silence. It really highlights the true sense of being in a community.
Elizabeth further proved herself to be the angel of the town as she went on to do her best to try to bring the happy and content version of Henry by making him work with the town kids. You truly just need to indulge in one small act of kindness for someone else to feel included.
Some of us may or may not have teared up a little, watching Henry work and build boxes for the kids. The episode also focused on two important story arcs, so read till the end to find out what exactly they were.
When Calls The Heart Season 10 Episode 5: Ending Explained
Lucas’ surprise was grand and lovely, but it failed to take in the fact that Elizabeth has a life in Hope Valley. He reveals to her that he plans on building her a beautiful house on a hilltop on the opposite side of the town as a wedding gift to her.
While she pretends to like the idea at first, she talks to him about it in private later, revealing that she wishes to continue living on the side of the town where they are currently settled, where she has her own home and her own Hope Vally community, which is of immense importance to her.
She hesitatingly talks more about how she genuinely feels like she belongs to this community and that she feels real happiness there. The episode ended with the couple having sorted this issue and with Lucas admitting that Elizabeth’s happiness meant everything to him.
The episode also touched on Madeline and Jamie and their possible permanent settlement in Hope Valley. Madeline is in town in hopes of getting her hands on one particular piece of land, one that Bill owns and wishes to sell, but we cannot trust her completely yet.
Bill also seems to have trouble trusting her motive, though when Madeline reveals to him that her dead husband’s lawyers are putting pressure on her to invest soon, Bill goes soft and agrees to sell her his land. The lawyer’s story turned out to be fake, and we do not trust Madeline at all.
The episode ended before we could find out what is the real deal with her and that piece of land. Tune in to watch the next episode of the show, What Calls the Heart, to find out Madeline’s truth.
