he South Korean music industry mourns the loss of singer Wheesung, who passed away on March 10. His funeral service was held on March 16 at 6:20 AM at Seoul Samsung Hospital’s funeral hall in Gangnam.
The ceremony was attended by fellow entertainers, close colleagues, and over 100 devoted fans who gathered to pay their final respects to the beloved artist.
During the funeral, Wheesung’s younger brother, Dr. Choi Hyuk Seong, a rehabilitation specialist, delivered a heartfelt eulogy that moved those in attendance. Holding back tears, he shared his gratitude for the outpouring of condolences, stating,
“Over the past two days, many people have expressed their condolences for my brother. It wasn’t easy to hold the funeral, but I felt it was right to share this last moment with those who remembered and loved him.”
Dr. Choi described Wheesung as a reserved person at home, but through the stories of his colleagues and fans, he realized how deeply caring and warm his brother truly was.

A psychiatrist attending the funeral offered words of comfort, emphasizing that some struggles are beyond human control.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Choi encouraged everyone to remember Wheesung not only for his personal hardships but for his musical legacy.
“Though the life of Choi Wheesung as a person has ended, the music of Wheesung the singer will live on,” he said. “As long as his songs are heard, he will remain with us.”
In a touching final request, he urged fans to continue sharing and listening to Wheesung’s music, ensuring that his artistry is passed down to future generations.
“Please keep his songs alive so he is not forgotten. By doing so, my brother will live on forever with us,” he said.
