Moff Gideon is a fierce guy who has no hesitation to slaughter anyone who stands between him and his goal. Gideon admits that he only works for his personal interest, even being a leading remnant of the Galactic Empire. During the time he was part of the Galactic Empire, he witnessed how his subordinates were killed by a powerful force called “The Darkness.” In Moff Gideon’s recollection, It was because of that incident that he lost his trust in the Empire and started to work for himself.

Although Moff Gideon is not completely an evil character, you won’t spoil your games when you choose him. His personality is rather cruel and ruthless towards other people. For example, In The Empire At War mod, if you choose this leader at the start of the Rebellion campaign, then The Emperor will be extremely angry and will tell you that your choice as a leader is not acceptable.
Moff Gideon’s rivalry with Grand Moff Tarkin was a bitter one. The two of them had never seen eye to eye, and Moff Gideon couldn’t accept the fact that a man who traveled the stars to serve the Empire as his adjutant could tell him where to stand and move.
Since the Galactic Empire fell, Moff Gideon was quite powerful in dealing with other races. In his eyes, humanity was his greatest rival because he thought they were selfish, arrogant, and conceited. He also believed that they were warmongers disguised as peace-loving people and, therefore, would use any means necessary to conquer them. Being part of this Empire made him an expert in using both diplomacies, as well as extreme violence.

What really happened to him?
So, the “Mandelorian chapter 21” is here, and it looks like we’re finally starting to piece together where the rest of the season is going to take us. Well, spoiler alert! But Moff Gideon is back with a major twist. As we had rumors which were later nearly confirmed by the New Republic Amnesty program members, he escaped before even making it to his trial by the new Republic.
But the real kicker here is that a fragment of Bhaskar alloy was left at the destroyed ship’s wreckage, meaning he was freed by Mandalorians. Now the leaks surrounding Moff Gideon leading into this season have been all over the place, with many pointing towards him wearing his own Mandalorian armor and perhaps being flanked by some new stormtroopers or perhaps even praetorian guards.
Could they be wearing Bhaskar armor? Maybe there is a version of dark troopers made from Bhaskar. Either way, things are about to get crazy. We know Gideon has some kind of tie and obsession with Mandalore and its culture. Having somehow taken the darksaber from Bi Katan.
But the fact that they’ve slowly built up the Moff’s return and didn’t even feature him in any of the trailers. It seems like we are into some kind of crazy twist in the midway. And we all know how good the showrunners are at blurring lines to make us think one way but then deliver something completely different. So let’s look back and see where did things start to go downhill.

Where did all of this start?
It all started with a conversation between Thrawn and Vanto, where he told him about the “gift from Mandalore,” which was the darksaber. And that he meant for someone worthy to wield it, which probably hints at the saber’s importance in Mandalorian culture and society. His armor is that of a pure dark trooper, but is it him? It seems almost like Thrawn has been tracking Moff Gideon down and making certain he would be the one to get the saber.

His latest appearances
The next time we see him, it’s in the events of Assault on Lothal where we see him in a meeting with Agent Kallus and the Inquisitor. Thrawn makes his introduction, and that seems like the turning point for Moff Gideon. We learn he has not only been working for Thrawn but has also been hired by someone else to work for them. But who? He doesn’t say.
A few days later, he receives a message from an old friend and goes to meet him in a bar, where he learns that the other person he is working for is none other than a maul. Now, if Moff Gideon was ever going to work for someone, wouldn’t it be Thrawn? I mean, they have a past together, and they are both stationed on Lothal. So it seems really odd that he would, of all people, join Maul.
