What Happened To Steven Tyler?
Steven Tyler, the lead vocals of the legendary band Aerosmith, suffered a vocal chord lesion that fractured his larynx and required a lot of care. In layman’s terms, the “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” busted his windpipe, and resulting from that, he can’t perform.
In a brief press statement, Steven Tyler expressed that he’s sad that he can’t continue performing with Aerosmith, and that he’ll be back with the band as soon as he can.
Tyler’s lesion got complicated, and the band had to reschedule several dates of their Farewell tour in September. Furthermore, this vocal chord injury results from performing in Elmont, New York. Steven Tyler has access to the best healthcare out there to ensure that he can recover as fast as he can from that injury; still, that kind of tissue needs a lot of time to heal, so he and his fans will have to be very patient.
Put on vocal chord rest on doctor’s orders after careful examination, the 75-year-old singer of “Dream On” must rest his voice from those high-pitched notes he reaches in his songs with his band for at least a month.

Our vocal cords are flexible bands of tissue that we have in our voice box, formally known as the larynx in our throats. The vocal cords are crucial to producing the sound of our voice, controlling its pitch and tone. There are many ways in which a vocal chord lesion can take place, from trauma, overuse or strain, infections, and surgical procedures.
The symptoms that the singer of “Hole In My Soul” reported after that concert in New York were bleeding, but he also might’ve experienced voice changes, pain, and discomfort, coupled with troubled swallowing and judging from what the press statements say, he might’ve even had difficulty producing sounds.
As such, a patient like Steven Tyler, with those kinds of lesions, must undergo various treatments, the main one being voice rest, which, coupled with speech therapy, medications for inflammation, and even surgery, could fix it.

Resulting of that busted windpipe, Aerosmith is putting their farewell tour, one that’s been marred with problems of its own between band members and logistics, on hold until next year. That’s right if you were hoping to see the band play “Cryin'” on stage, you’ll have to wait until 2024.

And in case they can’t make it, they should reach out to the point of purchase to ask for a reimbursement.
For the moment, the scheduled dates in cities like Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston are suspended until further notice. The farewell tour, formally known as “Peace Out Tour,” took off in Philadelphia back on September 3, 2023, and was supposed to conclude in Montreal in January, but things are now looking differently, and the band will play their songs for the final time before their audience at a set of unspecified dates sometime in 2024.
