Who Is Bon Clay?
The flamboyant Bentham of the Wild, also known as Mr. 2 Bon Kurei, once served as an officer agent for the nefarious group Baroque Works. With his penchant for ballet-inspired attire and heavy makeup, Bentham cut an unmistakable figure among the ranks of the secret criminal organization.
Though he began as an antagonist to Luffy during the chaotic events in Arabasta, the two quickly forged an unexpected bond. Bentham’s willingness to sacrifice himself for Luffy’s sake, both in Arabasta and later in Impel Down, cemented his status as one of Luffy’s most steadfast allies.
Beyond his Surface look of an exuberant okama, Bentham harbored an inner strength and muscular physique that served him well in mastering the Okama Kenpo fighting style. After assisting Luffy’s daring escape from Impel Down, Bentham found a new purpose as the queen of Newkama Land.
Though once an enemy of the Straw Hats, Bentham proved himself a loyal friend ready to lay his life on the line when it really counted. His flamboyant flair and fighting prowess may make him seem a comic character at first glance, but his courageous heart proves he’s a true ally.
In keeping with his role as Officer Agent Mr. 2, Bentham styled his swan-themed ballet attire to feature the number “2” formed by his poised swans. His flamboyant overcoat displayed his personal credo – the Okama Way. When impersonating King Nefertari Cobra, Bentham donned royal robes and sandals to complete his act.
During his covert mission with Miss Goldenweek, Bentham wore a dark suit with a dress shirt plastered in 2’s to maintain his signature look. He later borrowed Mr. 3’s striped hoodie and pants for a disguise, comically emblazoning it with the number 3.
As a rag-clad prisoner in Impel Down, Bentham temporarily traded in his flashy outfits. He disguised himself as Warden Hannyabal using his headdress and pants when the need for subterfuge arose.
