Nami has one of the most depressing origin stories in Arlong Park. Arlong kills her mother immediately after Nami is born and exploits her village for money. Nami decides to go to her native place by paying him. She creates maps for Arlong and stores them in her prison-like room for eight years.
Before getting defeated by Luffy, the highest bounty in the East Blue is on Arlong’s head. He is incredibly resilient and can stand against Luffy’s most powerful attacks and techniques. Arlong is resistant to pain, re-grows his teeth, and rearranges his nose after getting attacked by Luffy.
Arlong has destructive teeth, but Luffy knows how to use them against him. He also has a signature sword, the Kiribachi, which could even slice a building. Arlong’s officers get defeated when he gets busy fighting Luffy. Sanji and Zoro fight Arlong for some time when Luffy gets thrown into the water, but Arlong quickly defeats the duo.

What Episode Is Arlong Defeated?
Luffy defeats Arlong in One Piece Season 1 Episode 43 (anime), though their battle starts in the 41st episode. The 43rd episode aired on September 27, 2000, and February 16, 2013 (remastered).
Luffy cannot take Arlong’s wrong deeds any more and begins a battle with him. Monkey D. Luffy is almost about to die under Arlong’s captivity. Thanks to Zoro, who keeps Arlong busy, and Sanji, who dives into the sea to save Luffy.
Thus, Luffy, after getting out of the sea, plans to use Arlong’s teeth against him. Luffy is not a swordsman. Still, he takes two swords to fight Arlong. Arlong bites one with his teeth, and Luffy attacks Arlong with the second.
Arlong’s teeth get broken when Luffy gives him a final punch. Luffy knows how ordinary he is but strong enough to fight for his friends. Meanwhile, a new set of teeth grows in Arlong’s mouth because he is a shark. He uses the opportunity to stab Luffy.
This time, Luffy kicks Arlong, knocking another set of his teeth. Further, he bites Arlong with his own teeth, which does not work as Luffy does not have stronger jaws like Arlong. Meanwhile, Arlong bites Luffy’s right arm to rip it off, and Luffy cries in pain.
Arlong dives into the sea and comes out using the Shark on Darts technique thrice on Luffy, but Luffy knocks him down using Gomu Gomu no Tate and Gomu Gomu no Ami techniques. It means holding Arlong between Luffy’s fingers and stopping his attack, respectively. Thus, Arlong gets severely hurt and angrier than before.
Arlong takes Luffy throughout the Arlong Park and attacks Luffy with his signature weapon, the Kiribachi. They enter Nami’s room full of maps while fighting. In the forty-second episode, Luffy finds the maps and evidence of Nami’s abuse for making her work. Meanwhile, Arlong says he will continue to use Nami and appreciate her talent.
Furious, Luffy throws some paper out of the window and destroys other evidence. Nami, standing at the foot of the building, thanks Luffy for finishing her horrible memories. Intending to destroy the room, Luffy uses the Gomu Gomu No Ono technique and demolishes the entire Arlong Park. The villagers quickly recognize the winner by looking at the demolition.
After Defeating Arlong
Luffy only defeats Arlong but does not kill him. Thus, Arlong is alive. However, Luffy takes the entire city down for Nami. None has found Luffy killing anyone, though he has defeated many because he likes to give everyone another chance. He respects people who are passionate about their goals.
After getting out of the tower, Luffy asks Nami whether she will be his friend, and she agrees wholeheartedly. News related to Arlong’s defeat spread in the village. Meanwhile, Marine Nezumi comes to claim Arlong’s remaining empire, but the angry villagers and Straw Hats dominate him.
Thus, Nezumi agrees to clean the mess and reconstruct Gosa Village. However, he pledges to make Luffy feel sorry for it, standing at a safer distance. The villagers celebrate their freedom, and Nami cries, remembering her sufferings because Arlong could do her work till her last breath.
On the other hand, the corrupt Nezumi reports Luffy and his squad to the Marine Headquarters and asks them to place a heavy bounty on Luffy’s head.
