What Chapter Does Ichigo Get His New Zanpakuto? Find out here. Fans were absolutely ecstatic when Ichigo’s brand new look was revealed first in the manga and then in the anime Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. Ichigo is seen sporting not one but two zanpakuto, one that is shorter and another that is much longer and closely resembles his old zanpakuto.
Ichigo had always brandished a huge sword called Zangetsu as his zanpakuto, and his immensely powerful sword was the signature look of Bleach’s main character Ichigo.
Unfortunately, the Zangestsu was broken by Rukia’s older brother Byakuya Kyuchiki when he came to whisk Rukia away, and Ichigo’s powers were sealed as well. Ichigo had to go through a rigorous procedure to unlock his powers again, and he even underwent hollowfication to get the desired result.
Afterward, Ichigo’s zanpakuto is broken again in its Bankai form by Quincy King Yhwach’s subordinate, Haschwalth. It proved itself to be a blessing in disguise for Ichigo, who underwent an evolution and ended up with even more powerful weapons.
Bleach has been one of the biggest manga, and it has remained on top even after years of its initial release. Fans have grown up watching Ichigo and his adrenaline-fueled fights with villains.
Ichigo Kurosaki is shoved into the world of Soul Reapers after he and his family are attacked by a fearsome hollow, and he ends up meeting the talented yet compassionate Rukia.
After receiving the powers of a Shinigami, Ichigo’s life was filled with thrilling action and dangerous situations that were his destiny all along.
What Chapter Does Ichigo Get His New Zanpakuto?
In Chapter 542 of Blech, fans got to see Ichigo’s new look as he held two swords in his hands – one being a shorter sword and the other being a huge curved blade resembling the zanpakuto we all had gotten accustomed to.
Earlier in his fight against Quincy King Yhwach’s s subordinate Hascwalth, Ichigo’s zanpakuto breaks into its Bankai form. The Captain of the 12th Division of the Gotei Mayuri informs Ichigo that only a zanpakuto broken in its Shikai form can be brought back after it has been broken.
Unfortunately, Ichigo’s sword was broken in the Bankai form, and Mayuri’s words were equivalent to rubbing salt in his wounds, especially after he had lost to a Quincy.
Surprisingly, Squad Zero’s Ichibei tells Ichigo that there might be a way to bring his zanpakuto back to the Royal Palace, and Ouetsu Nimaiya would be imperative for success.
The only catch is that it will not bring his old Zangetsu back. Ichigo and Renji go to see Nimaiya, and they see numerous men and women around his house who are revealed to be zanpakuto.
Nimaiya tells Ichigo and Renji that he will only forge their zanpakuto after they win against the embodiments of Asauchi’s surrounding them. Ichigo, Renji, and the Asauchi fight for three whole days before Nimaiya declares that Renji has won, although Ichigo failed the test.
Nimaiya explains that it is important for one to know about their true nature, and Ichigo is clearly not aware of himself. Ichigo goes back and returns after learning about his Quincy ancestry and is once again surrounded by the Asauchi.
However, Ichigo doesn’t begin fighting the Asauchi right away, and Nimaiya is able to tell that something is clearly different about Ichigo now.
Instead, Ichigo extends his hand towards one of the Asauchi, who takes on the form of Hollow Ichigo. Nimaiya decides to use Ichigo’s inner Hollow to forge the new zanpakuto.
He also informs Ichigo that the entity he mistook for Zangetsu is actually his Quincy power’s manifestation. Ichigo finally makes peace with both identities within himself, and a new zanpakuto is formed.
The Zanpakuto is actually divided into two blades – one being his Quincy side of powers and the other being his inner hollow side.
