Indoor and Outdoor Mode Explained
Umaru’s outdoor mode consists of her transforming into an extremely beautiful high school student. Because of her beauty, Umaru’s ‘outside’ mode attracts the attention of everyone passing by. She has a pale complexion, a petite body, pink cheeks, and wide, dark brown eyes. Her honey-blonde hair falls to her waist, with two shorter strands framing either side of her face and short bangs concealing her brow. Umaru is very stylish in her outdoor mode as she is frequently seen wearing feminine, flowery outfits outside of school.
Umaru’s indoor mode, on the other hand, is completely opposite to that of her outside mode, which has her dubbed as “Himouto” by her older brother. She reverts to her actual, chibi shape in her ‘Indoor’ mode, letting out her secret otaku side and scarcely contributing to household tasks such as taking care of her own hamsters, which she all leaves to Taihei, much to his annoyance. An ‘Indoor’ Umaru is untidy and lazy, eats junk food, plays video games, reads manga, and watches anime all day long, and has an extreme fascination with plush cat dolls. She typically refers to herself in the third person and acts weirdly when she is not in public.
