To commemorate the launch of “Outlaws of Thunder Junction,” MTG Japan has revealed a promotional video that pays homage to the iconic opening theme song “Tank!” from the beloved anime Cowboy Bebop. In the video, MTG characters are depicted in a Wild West setting, with elements such as wagons and magic firearms replacing familiar anime motifs like the Swordfish and firearms.
MTG Japan will release five special promo cards themed after Cowboy Bebop, offering players and collectors a chance to add unique and collectible cards to their decks. These promo cards, including “Ossification,” “Disdainful Stroke,” “Go for the Throat,” “Lightning Strike,” and “Snakeskin Veil,” will be available in sets released between August 2024 and May 2025.
In addition to the promo cards, MTG Japan is offering fans various incentives to participate in the “Outlaws of Thunder Junction” campaign. Players and collectors can win exclusive playmats or card sleeves with a purchase of 3,000 yen worth of unopened MTG products from participating Wizard Play Network stores. Additionally, fans will receive random postcards and “Thunder Junction” stickers with qualifying purchases.
For those attending the Japan Standard Cup at the Players Convention Aichi 2024, MTG Japan has prepared an extra treat. Participants in select tournaments will receive an original playmat featuring MTG characters inspired by Cowboy Bebop, adding a touch of nostalgia to their gaming experience.
