Welcome To Eden Season 2 Ending Explained
So with season two, we know that the secret behind the island is that it is less of a party and more of being run by a cult that is run by two people, Astrid and Erick. With this out, the show starts to focus on the lives of the characters and how they adjust to being forced to live on the island with no way out. The second season of the show saw a bunch of new characters, while Zoa and her friends are still on a mission to get out.
Zoa had an opportunity to leave the island for good, but just as she was about to embrace her freedom, she saw her younger sister, Gaby land on the island. Obviously, she is not going to leave her there alone, so she makes a difficult choice. A guy named Nico sees her attempt to leave the island and uses this information to threaten Zoa to stay away from Bel.
Bel and Zoa have been getting closer on the island, and there just might be something going on between the two, but Nico does not seem to be a big fan of their relationship. Zoa has mentioned that she wishes to leave the leave to protect her sanity and because she does not want to lose her worldview to that of the cult leaders.
She does not want to give in to their ideologies and this is something that Nico does not realize because he has clearly embraced the cult life. There is no way Nico and Zoa could have been together significantly because one wants to abandon the island and the other has already given up.
We saw that Charly was able to escape from the island but we are not given a moment of relief as very soon he finds that he is in the middle of the ocean with no sense of direction or land in sight. Though he manages to get a lift from some official-looking people, who we think to be the navy or army but turns out to be Atrid’s men.
Once again Charly is back on the island and in a cell that he is forced to share with Africa, played by Belinda Peregrin. Nobody is aware of the fact that Charly has been dragged back to the island, so Zoa and her friends continue to hold on to the futile hope that Charly would alert the actual authorities.
Through certain events, Nico ends up getting killed, and much to Zoa’s dislike her younger sister, Gaby also starts to get brainwashed and aligns herself with the cult ideologies. Bel and Zoa put their heads together to get rid of Astrid but things do not go their way.
The Truth Behind Eden
Erick and Astrid struggle with keeping their little cult island in check, and throughout the season, we see many people try to escape the island, but no one ever succeeds. The finale of the season finally reveals the truth about the island, but it raises more questions than it answers. We realize that it was actually Astrid’s father and not the former who had thought of the remote island, Eden.
He was convinced that the island had aliens who were waiting for a select few humans, to take them away to another universe while planet Earth crushes under human greed. Her father dies without telling her where on the island she could get into contact with aliens, so she takes it upon herself to discover the coordinates on her own but without much success.
Som and Danae are new characters in the show but of much importance. It is revealed that Danae was the rival who had killed Astrid’s father for a man named Mr. Sisuk, who turned out to be Som’s father. Danae and Som seem to be working together for Som’s father, and the two plan to attack the island.
The two have a plan against Astrid and her secret island, and the two actually get to the computers with a chip that Som had stored inside of her shoulder, but they get caught red-handed by Astrid’s son, Isaac. The finale episode does not reveal what exactly it is that the two, Danae and Som, are after or what their plan is for the island. What did Isaac catch them doing with the computers is also not revealed.
Zoa & Bel’s Fate
The finale episode also confronts the attack that Zoa and Bel had planned on Astrid but had failed so drastically. It was Gabi, Zoa’s younger sister, who had told Astrid about Zoa and Bel’s plan of murdering Astrid and escaping the island.
Gabi had been living on the island with a second name Molly. When her fake identity gets revealed, we also realize that Gabi had been the child who did not get her parent’s attention and love, and it was because she saw actually loving parents in Astrid and Erick that she decided to betray her family and sign a contract to stay in the island of delusion forever.
Gabi earns a star and Astrid’s trust and love in return for her sneaky behavior, and we cut to the scene where Bel and Zoa are being taken to be executed for their crimes. Just when the two are about to be killed, Gabi, the traitor begs her new parents, Astrid and Erick, to let Zoa walk away. Though she tried to have some amount of respect and dignity toward her actual family, when Astrid agreed to let Zoa live, the latter refused the offer without a thought.
Bel and Zoa are completely and madly in love, and Zoa refuses to let Bel be killed. She announces bravely that she would either live with Bel or be killed with her. While the entire crowd is going back and forth on what to do, Brisa, the one investigating the case of all these missing young people enters the scene with her chopper and backup to rescue the victims.
The last scene of the finale episode has Astrid and Erick dealing with better work, and while they are busy dealing with Brisa, Gabi informs Zoa that Brisa was on the island to rescue them from the mad cult people. This obviously, is a scene that makes one question Gabi’s loyalties and where they actually lie. This question is just one of the few that will remain unanswered till the next season.
We know that Zoa and Bel will be executed immediately and that Brisa’s entry into the island has been postponed for quite a while. Another big question that the show coolly brushed off as insignificant is the alien-other-worldly-universe story arc that was introduced in the finale season. As ridiculous as it sounds, fans will have to wait till the next season to get their answers.
