Ways To Satisfy A Devil Chapter 5: Recap
The chapter opens up with the Devil getting into the body of a human who died in the forest after being labeled as a traitor. After possessing the body of this human, the devil started using the name Isaac and went on to kill the King of Alberich and become the Duke of that nation. The Victorian palace has been sunk, and the prince and princess are dead, leading to a huge reduction in military power.
Duke Marquis looks at the letter he received from Duke Isaac, and he becomes tense. Vanessa asks her father what happened, but he gets so serious that he doesn’t even reply to her.
She then asks Stella about the issue, and Stella explains that according to the letter, all unmarried noble ladies are to be taken to the empire, and then they will have to marry someone in 3 days, or their entire clan will be annihilated.
Vanessa thinks that if she were a daughter of any noble house, then this situation would’ve been humiliating for her, but she has lived as a slave in her previous life, and she was treated even worse than a worm.
While Vanessa was lost in thoughts, Shaker hugged her while crying. He tells her not to leave him for the sake of the clan. Vanessa understands Shaker’s sorrow, and so she sits down and explains to him how the Duke won’t leave them alone if she doesn’t go.
Vanessa’s mother apologizes to her by saying that if she knew something like this would happen, then she would have married her earlier. Vanessa tells her that it’s not her fault because she was the one who refused the marriage proposal. She then tells them that if she went to the empire, then her clan would be safe, and so she will go. The maids whisper how barbaric the duke is, and they feel sorry for Vanessa.
The next day Vanessa prepares to leave for the empire. She packs her clothes and removes the subspace she created to summon demons because if someone found out about it while she was away, then her whole family would be in danger. Vanessa thinks about how she wanted a normal life this time, but it still ended up like this.
Vanessa thinks of how her life as “Vanessa” is not too bad because of the family she got, and she then wonders if she can meet the devil just one more time. At night time, Vanessa’s mother cries and tells her about her childhood, which makes her feel sad. Vanessa then leaves for the empire on the following day without telling Shaker because he would try to stop her if she did.
Shaker wakes up in the morning and rushes outside after he sees that his sister is not by her side, but Vanessa departs before he can do anything. Vanessa recalls her previous life when she suffered harsh treatment from the soldiers, and they gave her nearly inedible food to eat. Vanessa falls asleep while Dreaming about her past life, and the carriage soon arrives at Alberic Empire.
