Plot
Captivating the King set in the Joseon Era tells the unrequited love story of The Grand Prince and a spy. With the Qing invasion in the Ming dynasty chaos surrounded the Ming which put the royal court in a dreadful situation. The King had Lee Sun for the sake of his position and economy choose their defeat and surrender to the Qing.
As per the ally formed, the younger brother of King, Jin Han was taken hostage by the Qing. Lee In was an honest and intelligent warrior. His respect for his brother was profound and therefore he accepted his fate of being Qing’s hostage. However, Jin Han’s talent for Baduk saves his life from getting tortured by Qings.
After impressing Crown Prince Ryu of Qing, Jin Han was granted to go back to his state. However, he was welcomed in an unexpected by the King (His older brother.) Soon a rumour spreads throughout the whole nation that Jin Han is the spy sent by Qing, which puts him in a suffocating environment to survive.
Being betrayed by his family and close ones, Jin Han found his solace in playing Baduk, it was when he met the popular Baduk gambler of the town Kang Hee Soo. He gets fascinated by his game and as they spend more time playing Baduk soon becomes friends.
Whereas Kang Hee Soo was the royal court’s inspector’s daughter Wong Moo who disguised herself to get close to Jin Han to get her revenge. But fate decided something else for both when Woo Mong falls in love with Jin Han. What kind of future holds for these two?
