The popular anime Dragon Ball Super concluded its television run in 2018 after airing the climactic Tournament of Power saga. This epic tournament pitted fighters from multiple universes against one another, with entire universes at stake if their team lost.

While fans likely enjoyed the dramatic fights and battles, it’s important to recall how this tournament originated. The two child-like Omni-Kings, Zen-Oh, introduced the idea because they wanted an easier workload going forward – by simply destroying the majority of the remaining universes. This callous excuse for universal destruction may have been glossed over in the excitement of the fights.

However, it’s even more disturbing when you consider that years before this tournament, the Omni-Kings had already destroyed six whole universes on a mere whim.

The lives of countless beings were erased in an instant. Android 17’s last-minute wish at the end of the Tournament of Power saved the remaining universes from a similar fate, but those previously destroyed were not so lucky.

Zen-Oh’s Dark Deeds

The staggering revelation that the supreme Omni-Kings, Zen-Oh, had nonchalantly destroyed six entire universes prior to the Tournament of Power raises deeply troubling questions.

According to the Dragon Ball Super manga, the vague explanation offered was that eighteen total universes were simply too cumbersome for the child-like Zen-Oh to oversee. So six universes, with all of their civilizations, cultures, and lifeforms, were blithely erased on a whim.

Later, during the showdown with the remaining twelve universes, the same flimsy rationale was given – that administering so many realities had become tedious for Zen-Oh.

Hence the Tournament of Power was devised to cut the number down drastically to just four universes, with the rest facing demolition. Obviously, the lives and very existence of countless beings were deemed unimportant nuisances, confirming Zen-Oh’s pettiness and callousness.

Thankfully Son Goku’s proposal of a fighting tournament offered a chance for the universes to save themselves through battle. But it does not change the fact that Zen-Oh destroyed six entire universes purely out of minor inconvenience and boredom.

This should give fans pause about the character of such an unrestrained, amoral deity with the power to erase all of reality in a passing mood. The anime glosses over this, but it raises profound ethical issues nonetheless.

Exploring the Disturbing Origins of Universe Destruction in Dragon Ball Super

More disturbing revelations emerge about the Omni-Kings Zen-Oh in Dragon Ball Super regarding the previous destruction of six whole universes. According to the anime, Zen-Oh’s childlike temper resulted in this callous act.

Enraged during a game with his alternate self that involved casually demolishing planets, Zen-Oh had a bout of anger and took it out on six entire universes, obliterating them from existence.

This paints an even more alarming picture of the supreme deity’s psychological state. For the Omni-King, annihilating universes containing countless living beings is akin to a temper tantrum – a disturbing impulse done purely to vent frustration.

It confirms Zen-Oh’s utter indifference to life similar to the detached angels. Unlike them, however, Zen-Oh possesses unlimited power to act out such reckless decisions instantly.

Unlike a reasonable leader or guardian focused on protection, Zen-Oh’s choices seem based entirely on spontaneous whims and passing moods. The wanton destruction of not just planets but civilizations on the scale of universes suggests a profoundly broken ethical compass.

While played for light amusement in the show, in reality, such deranged behavior would be deemed deeply troubling at best. It makes the Omni-King’s stability highly questionable despite his supreme power.

Potential Resurrection of Erased Universes

Given the seemingly careless erasure of entire universes at the hands of Zen-Oh, a natural question arises – could those destroyed civilizations ever be restored?

Interestingly, Dragon Ball Super suggests that yes, resurrection even from Omni-King Zeno’s destruction is possible, via the Super Dragon Balls.

These mystical orbs, created in the distant past by the dragon god Zalama, are established as being capable of granting literally any wish, without limitations.

Their power is such that they can override even an erasure by Zeno himself, as they have no equal in the hierarchy of divine beings in the Dragon Ball mythos.

This is evidenced in the concluding episodes of the climactic Tournament of Power storyline. Here, the last wish of Victor Android 17 was to bring back all those universes that had been wiped out earlier in the tournament by Zen-Oh as punishment for losing.

The Super Dragon Balls successfully undid this destructive act, confirming that Zeno’s judgments are not necessarily absolute.
