Saber Interactive has released Patch 14, also known as the Confrontation Update, for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on PC. The headline feature is official Steam Workshop support, making it significantly easier for players to browse, install, and manage community-created mods directly through Steam.

The free update also expands the game with new PvP maps, an additional enemy type, and fresh cosmetic items.

Steam Workshop support opens the door for bigger mods

Official Workshop integration streamlines the modding process for both players and creators. According to Saber Interactive, modders now have access to the same internal editor used by the development team through its Integration Studio, enabling more ambitious projects such as custom campaigns, gameplay rebalancing, new weapons, classes, AI improvements, and additional game modes.

However, mods remain unavailable in public matchmaking. Saber explained that modded content previously caused server stability issues, including for players who were not using mods. Instead, Workshop creations can be enjoyed in private co-op sessions, with dedicated server infrastructure supporting modded games among friends.

Beyond mod support, Patch 14 introduces new PvP maps, a new enemy, and additional cosmetic rewards, giving returning players more content to explore. The update arrives as Saber continues to expand the game’s post-launch roadmap, with a third year of content already planned to begin in September. The studio has also confirmed that console mod support is in development, signaling a long-term commitment to the game’s community.
