The sheer fact that Jinmu (MC) could fight at this level with someone who is so older than him is only because of how great he is. Chinese and Korean Wuxia/Xianxia puts a huge emphasis on age because “ki cultivation” is measured in time spent training. Older people have incredibly larger qi reserves and purity.
There is also the fact that because of his circumstances, he can’t use the Qi he had before because its type clashes with the Qi in his current body. Hence, he can’t use the majority of his techniques. He can only rely on fighting experience, which this other old guy also has.
As stated in the 1st chapter, the old man is the leader of the unorthodox faction along with the 3 great powers, the other 2 being of the Orthodox Faction, and lastly, the Demonic Cult.
If you have read dozens of other murim manhwas like this one, it’s always mostly that Murim or Jangho is divided into 3 powers: the Orthodox, Unorthodox, and the Demonic. Even if Jinmu (MC) is described as evil in the 1st chapter, there are usually lines that the Unorthodox Faction does not cross.
