India’s anime community continues to grow, with more popular anime creators, voice actors, and performers visiting the country for fan events. Just a few days ago, it was announced that the director of Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden, Hayato Dat, will be attending an anime convention in India. Now, another well-known name from the anime industry is set to meet fans at an upcoming event in Mumbai.

Japanese voice actress and singer Akari Yura is set to return to India this summer. Anime India has officially confirmed that Yura, known for her work in The Beginning After the End and Catch Me at the Ballpark!, will perform at the convention’s Live House concert during its upcoming Mumbai event in August.

Akari Yura Returns to Mumbai

Akari Yura’s appearance at Anime India Mumbai will mark her return to the convention after she missed her previous scheduled visit. She was originally set to perform and appear on a panel at Anime India’s Kolkata event in February 2026, but the organizers announced that she had contracted influenza and was unable to travel, resulting in the cancellation of her appearance.

This August, Yura will take the stage at Anime India’s second Mumbai edition. The convention’s inaugural Mumbai event attracted around 29,000 attendees over three days at NESCO BEC, making it one of India’s largest anime conventions. The event also featured several prominent guests, including Tetsuro Araki, best known for directing Attack on Titan and Death Note, voice actress Tsunko, and Hideo Katsumata, alongside cosplay competitions, live performances, and fan panels.

Anime India Continues to Grow

Since its debut in Mumbai, Anime India has continued to expand, hosting successful events in Kolkata and establishing itself as one of India’s largest anime conventions. The event features a large exhibition area, multiple stages, cosplay activities, special guest appearances, a film festival, and live performances, giving fans a wide range of anime-themed experiences.

Anime India’s second Mumbai edition will take place alongside the eighth Animation & More Summit, scheduled for August 28–29, 2026. The industry event brings together broadcasters, animation studios, and professionals from India and abroad. This year’s summit will also feature an International Pavilion showcasing creative talent from countries including Japan, Malaysia, and Thailand, further strengthening the event’s global presence.

What to Expect at the Live House Concert

Anime India’s Live House concert has become one of the convention’s biggest attractions, featuring live performances by Japanese voice actors, singers, and DJs. The concert gives fans a chance to enjoy anime songs (anison) and, at previous events, has also included meet-and-greet sessions with special guests.

While Akari Yura has been confirmed as a performer, Anime India has not yet announced her performance schedule, ticket details, or whether she will also take part in a fan panel. Based on previous editions, the convention is expected to release its full event schedule, including concert and panel timings, closer to the event.

What Fans Can Expect Next

With each new edition, Anime India continues to bring more well-known names from Japan to Indian fans. Akari Yura’s appearance adds another notable guest to the convention’s growing lineup, which has previously featured anime directors, voice actors, and industry professionals.

Fans planning to attend Anime India Mumbai can expect more details about Yura’s performance, the Live House concert, and the full event schedule to be announced through the convention’s official channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
