If you watched the latest season of Virgin River, you must be wondering what happened with Mel and Jack’s baby, so here is Who Does Casey Gardner End Up With In The ‘Atypical’? Ending Explained, in which you will get to know all about the ending.
On Sept. 7, Virgin River returned for its fifth season, putting your favorite small community in danger. Along with additional romance, paternity drama, rural drug lords, and normal small-town dramas, a sizable wildfire poses a threat to the location that Virgin River’s residents love most in the entire world.
Mayor Hope (Annette O’Toole), the local doctor Doc (Tim Matheson), bar owner Jack (Martin Henderson), nurse practitioner Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge), and chef Preacher (Colin Lawrence) are all characters in the show.
Preacher finds a new love, Mel puts her high-risk pregnancy before her profession, and there are some genuine, literal accusations. We will rise from the ashes, though, as Hope promises her friends in the teaser. That is Virgin River’s strength.

Virgin River Season 5 Ending Explained
Although the pair is delighted to learn that Mel and Jack are expecting a child together after Virgin River season 4, season 5 reveals that their wish to grow their family may not come true.
Mel exhibits signs that might be indicative of a miscarriage during the fire that destroys Virgin River in season 5. In Doc’s examination room, Mel does an ultrasound on herself, and it reveals no heartbeat, which appears to confirm the worst.
After the fire is put out, Jack and Mel sadly embrace, but it’s not immediately evident if Mel suffered a miscarriage because they don’t explicitly express the reason for their feelings. Sadly, it is eventually revealed that Mel did lose her baby toward the end of Virgin River season 5, part 1.
Mel experiences a tremendous degree of emotional distress as a result of this unfortunate incident because her prior pregnancy troubles and this loss have made her feel that the universe doesn’t want her to have children.
However, Mel understands she needs a change of perspective in the Virgin River season 5 part 1 finale, and her talk with Jack at the end of the episode shows that she still wants to start a family, even if it’s not how they had originally planned.
The evil Calvin seemed to be dead at the start of Virgin River season 5, but a significant surprise in the first part of the finale suggests that may not be the case. The boss of the drug enterprise was assumed to be dead going into Virgin River season 5 because Calvin’s boat exploded in the finale of Virgin River season 4 when he appeared to be on it.
The season 5 part 1 finale’s presence of Calvin at Virgin River’s fair, however, demonstrates that he is still very much alive and appears to have unfinished business. Calvin’s declared ambitions now that he’s back in Virgin River may surprise people even more than the fact that he survived the explosion.
Calvin confesses towards the conclusion of Virgin River season 5, part 1, that he has an unexpected connection to one of the town’s citizens. This revelation to the rest of the populace in part 2 of the season will have major repercussions.
Since Charmaine delivered the shock that Jack isn’t the father of her twins, one of Virgin River’s major mysteries has been who the real father is. When Charmaine and Jack discuss her huge deception, Charmaine admits that the twins’ real father was a one-time arrangement and that he wasn’t someone she thought would make a good father.
Charmaine implied that the twins’ father wasn’t important to the show by making this statement. Calvin’s return in the Season 5 Part 1 finale, however, demonstrates how incorrect this notion was.
In the season 5 part 1 finale, Charmaine is stopped by someone who turns out to be Calvin as she is leaving the Virgin River fair. He reveals that he wants “to be a father to [his] boys,” which shakes Charmaine, making her reaction even more visibly upset. Considering how Charmaine described the twins’ father to Jack, it is obvious that she had no intention of sharing this information.
One of Virgin River’s biggest turns comes when Calvin reveals the real parents of Charmaine’s kids. The fact that Calvin somehow survived after his houseboat exploded in Virgin River season 4 and he was thought to be dead is guaranteed to be a big story point in the upcoming episodes.
The characters of Virgin River believed that the threat posed by crime to the little community had been eliminated when Melissa, the season 5 villain, was apprehended thanks to Mike and Brady’s covert mission.
Calvin’s reappearance not only disproves this, but the lack of Melissa’s supervision means that he’ll probably pose an even bigger threat than before. The news that Calvin is alive and is identified as the twins’ father will affect Charmaine’s story in Virgin River season 5, part 2, in addition to the possibility of Calvin resuming his criminal activity.
The fact that Charmaine had a relationship with Calvin would only exacerbate the tensions that already exist between her and many of the Virgin River residents as a result of her falsehoods to Jack.
Calvin’s homecoming is a problem that several characters in the series will be dealing with, probably for the rest of the season, due to his criminal past and unwanted relationship with Charmaine. Mel learns some shocking news from her sister, Joey, at the very end of Virgin River season 5, part 1.
It is surprising enough that Joey claims to have discovered correspondence between their mother and someone from Virgin River that appears to be suggestive of an affair, but what is even more shocking is Joey’s hypothesis that his mother’s lover might be Mel’s biological father.
Virgin River hasn’t yet disclosed who Mel’s real dad could be, leaving it a great mystery going into the second half of the season because the episode closes before Mel can inquire about who the other writer of the letters is.
Regarding Mel’s possible father, several Virgin River characters fit the bill, with some of the most stunning options including Doc, Jo Ellen’s spouse Nick, or even Lily’s late husband Buck.
Mel’s father’s identity will remain a mystery until Virgin River has the chance to investigate Mel’s recent find, but it’s equally possible that he could be a figure who hasn’t been seen before.
Brady and Melissa’s representatives continue to battle in the opening scene of Virgin River season 5 part 1 finale when he discovers concrete evidence of Melissa’s drug trafficking and money laundering through Jack’s company.
Melissa’s squad and Jack get into a fight after Jack saves Brady, but the situation appears to be resolved when Mike shows up with the cops. When Mike accidentally takes a bullet while defending Brady from one of Melissa’s right-hand guys, the plan goes wrong.
Mike’s destiny is left on a cliffhanger because this scene concludes the episode’s frigid opening. Fortunately, Virgin River doesn’t keep Mike’s illness a secret for too long. Although Mike lost a lot of blood as a result of his wounds, it is revealed when the main protagonists of the Netflix series arrive at the hospital that he is alive and in stable condition.
By the end of the season 5 part 1 finale, Mike has even regained consciousness and the ability to communicate, allowing him and Brie to start reviving their romance from the original Virgin River books.
Lizzie and Denny have a significant conversation at the fair around the end of Virgin River season 5, part 1, which ends with her disclosing that she thinks she might be pregnant. Given that their relationship only became formal at the start of Virgin River season 5, this must come as a shock to them both.
The possible consequences of Lizzie’s pregnancy for Virgin River’s future, however, are even more frightening. It’s important to think about the impact such a revelation would have on Lizzy’s on-screen relationships.
Since Lizzie had also just been with Ricky in the timeframe of the program, even though she informed Denny of her possible pregnancy, it is impossible to know for certain if the child would be Denny’s.
The original Virgin River books, which depict Lizzie and Ricky having a child together and reveal that the child’s paternity isn’t exactly clear-cut, provide weight to this theory. Virgin River season 5, part 2, might be one of the most dramatic seasons ever, depending on how Lizzie’s pregnancy plot develops.
