Collen Hoover is a famous American writer who generally writes novels related to young adult fiction. She wrote a novel called ‘It Ends with Us’ and published it in 2016. A movie with the same name is yet to release soon in 2024.
The movie is an adaptation of Colleen’s novel ‘It Ends With Us.’ The other best-selling book, Verity, might have a movie too, but there’s no confirmation. This novel was published in 2018 and gradually grabbed the top position in America. The story of the same revolves around a best-selling author Verity Crawford.
She is injured, and her husband hires a girl who can complete Verity’s unfinished novel. Later, it is revealed that Verity’s husband and the employee have feelings for each other.
Well, the story isn’t that simple! It certainly gets complicated with every passing chapter. In the end, Verity leaves a letter behind. What’s in that letter?
What Is The Plot of Verity?
The story is all about writers, so let’s get into it. A struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh is working hard to get her writings to be the best in America. She is already facing financial issues after her mother’s dismissal. She was heading to a meeting in New York City, but then she witnessed an accident.
She was horrified as she was too close to the one who died in the accident. Jeremy was there. Well, Jeremy is the one who is going to hire Lowen for his wife, Verity.
Jeremy offered Lowen a job, and he wanted her to complete Verity’s unfinished novel. Jeremy invites Lowen to his house so that she can go through all of his wife’s research, notes, and papers.
Lowen discussed this with her ex (or agent), but he asked Lowen to get those research papers by mail. According to Lowen’s ex, Jeremy carries bad luck, and no one is safe around him. Jeremy and Verity had two daughters. One died due to an allergic reaction, and the other died of drowning.
Also, Verity had an accident due to which she was injured. It appears as if Jeremy carries bad luck. But Lowen says a Big No and arrives at Jeremy’s house. Nervously, she greets Jeremy and his younger son. Jeremy asks her to rename herself as Laura (pen name).
Lowen then meets Verity who is injured and does not know what’s going around. Jeremy directs Lowen to Verity’s office. Lowen finds a manuscript that was Verity’s autobiography. Lowen starts reading it. She reads about Jeremy and Verity’s first interaction.
The biography had sex scenes described in detail. So, when Lowen saw Jeremy shirtless, she was wildly attracted to him. She continues to read the biography from time to time. The manuscript says that Verity was pregnant with twins.
And she was so attracted to Jeremy that she didn’t want to share him even with the kids. The story becomes dark from here. Lowen started disliking Verity a bit. Lowen notices that Jeremy locks Verity in her bedroom at night. When asked, he recalls an incident where Verity injured herself while sleepwalking.
Crew, the younger kid of Jeremy and Verity, says to Lowen that he injured himself with a knife, but then he changes his words and says that he fell off his bed. Verity was seeing everything, and the knife was nowhere. Lowen was reading the manuscript secretly, and she was feeling strange vibes.

She read that Verity kept on trying to end her pregnancy. She used to take pills or tried to injure herself. Lowen started hating Verity, but simultaneously, she wanted to slip on the bed with Jeremy. The autobiography had everything related to the deaths of the kids happening in the house.
Verity was responsible for all of them. Lowen used to read all of this. On the other hand, Lowen and Jeremy started having sex often. They used to have sex marathons at night, and at some point, Verity knew this, or maybe not. Later, it was revealed that Verity was just acting to be injured, and she was fine.
Lowen even yelled at Verity for being such a horrible mother. In the final chapter of the autobiography, Jeremy got to know that Verity killed one of his kids, Harper. Later, Lowen starts screaming at Verity that she is a killer and she is faking her injury too. Lowen gives Jeremy the autobiography and asks him to read it.
Finally, Verity admits everything in front of Jeremy. He attacks Verity. Lowen tries to stop him and says that they should make it look like a suicide or an accident. After seven months, pregnant Lowen, Crew, and Jeremy spend good days together. They decide to head back to the same house. They find a letter from Verity to Jeremy.

Verity Ending Explained: What Does The Letter of Verity Say?
When Jeremy and Lowen head back to the Vermont house, they discover a letter that was written by Verity for Jeremy. This letter had the biggest twist of the novel, Verity. Till now, it was Verity who was at fault, and everything was going against her.
The letter has a clearance about the autobiography which Lowen read. The letter read that the autobiography which she wrote was an experiment. She was doing a writing exercise because she wanted to see if she could write or get into the mind of a villain.
She wanted to portray a fictionalized version of real events. She continued and wrote that she didn’t try to end her pregnancy, nor she tried to kill any of their kids. All that happened naturally, so she just made up the fictional story to write a different version of all those real events.
Before she could explain everything to Jeremy, he read the autobiography and was furious to know that she had killed his kids. Thus, she faked a car accident and also faked her injuries. She was planning to leave Jeremy and flee with her son, Crew.

Well, things were not in her hands as Lowen got those manuscripts that Verity wasn’t able to find. Lowen was now horrified, so she ripped the letter off and flushed it in the toilet. Nothing can be done now as the loss is done. Verity is dead, and both Jeremy and Lowen are responsible. So, they thought to shut their mouth and forget all of this.
What Is The Plot In The Hardcore Version of Verity?
After the main story, a hardcore version of the same story gets published. This version shows the life after the birth of Nova, Lowen, and Jeremy’s baby. Lowen is way more attracted to Jeremy because of sex. She is jealous, worried, and insecure all the time.
One fine day, the family goes to a beach where Lowen is sitting with the kids, and Jeremy goes for a run. Lowen is worried that he will find some other lady. Well, he finds Patricia, a friend of Verity. Well, the family has taken Lowen’s last name so that they were never caught.
Jeremy kills Patricia and destroys every clue that he and the family are at the beach. Lowen was ok with it, but she wondered if he would start treating her like Verity. At the end of the day, he killed two women, and he is so attractive that he can get any other woman easily.
At the end of the article, it is still unclear if the autobiography was true or the letter. Lowen hates Verity anyway, as she has always been jealous of her. According to Lowen, Verity was more beautiful than her. She experienced the most passionate sex from younger Jeremy, she had money, and she was better than her in every other aspect.
