The Under Ninja manga is set to take a brief hiatus, as announced by Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine on March 31, 2025. The manga will pause for three weeks, with its next chapter set to release on April 28. Fans can still look forward to new content, as Volume 15 of the series is scheduled for release on April 4.
Written and illustrated by Kengo Hanazawa, Under Ninja has been running in Weekly Young Magazine since 2018. The series has gained a dedicated fanbase due to its unique take on modern-day ninjas, blending action, humor, and suspense. Despite the short hiatus, the manga remains ongoing with no signs of slowing down.
The Anime and Live-Action Adaptation
Under Ninja received an anime adaptation produced by Tezuka Productions, known for their work on Dororo. The anime aired from October to December 2023, covering only a portion of the manga’s story. Given the remaining source material, fans can expect a second season in the future.
Additionally, the series inspired a live-action movie directed by Yuichi Fukuda, who is known for his work on the Gintama Live-Action Movie. This adaptation further expanded the franchise’s reach, bringing the story to a broader audience.
Plot Overview
Under Ninja follows Kuro, a socially awkward high school student who is given the opportunity to become a modern ninja. He is assigned dangerous assassination missions, operating as part of a secret Japanese organization established after World War II.
Initially a small group, the organization has grown to include over 20,000 ninjas, all working to neutralize threats. Kuro and his team face numerous challenges as they battle invaders attempting to infiltrate Tokyo and cause destruction.
While the manga takes a short break, fans can look forward to its return later in April, as well as future developments in both the anime and live-action adaptations.
