The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) have launched a comprehensive program to address alleged voter fraud as the November election approaches, despite minimal evidence of widespread irregularities in U.S. elections.
They aim to deploy over 100,000 attorneys and volunteers across competitive states, focusing on monitoring polling sites for any signs of irregularities. This initiative follows Trump’s persistent claims of election fraud, which have been widely discredited.
The program includes recruiting poll watchers to monitor individual polling sites and stationing attorneys at “Republican Party War Rooms” in key states to staff an “Election Integrity Hotline.”
Their goal is to respond to calls from poll watchers and voters who report possible irregularities during the election process.
Trump emphasized the importance of having the right people to count the ballots, claiming it’s as important as turning out voters on Election Day.
This initiative represents an escalation from the RNC’s voter integrity efforts during the 2022 congressional elections.
The RNC has already been involved in 82 lawsuits across 25 states related to election integrity during this election cycle.
Trump’s false claims about voter fraud, despite numerous failed lawsuits and lack of evidence, continue to shape Republican strategy and perception among party supporters.
On the campaign trail, Trump has consistently portrayed Democratic voters as chronic cheaters, urging his supporters to be vigilant and “guard the vote.”
However, critics, including the Democratic National Committee (DNC), view these efforts as attempts to undermine the election process and spread baseless lies about a rigged election. The DNC accuses Trump and the RNC of working to undermine democracy.
While Republican poll watchers have generally conducted themselves peacefully, there have been reports of alleged intimidation in recent elections, drawing attention from election officials in competitive states.
